How would you set up a dvd recorder (Sylvania DVR90DEA) to work with a TIVO box?

If by work with you mean off load your Tivo box, and burn to DVD I would take the S-out and audio out of your Tivo box, then connect to the S-in and audio in of your Sylvania DVDR. Then simply play your Tivo real time, and record to DVD. I don't believe theres going to be anyway other than real time to do what you want, with your Sylvania. You'd need to go to a computer for faster dubs.

Besides hooking up the s-video and audio as already suggested, when you do the actual transfer, be sure and use the "Copy to VCR" function. This prevents any on screen messages from unexpectedly popping up, like the message asking permission to change channels on then "tuner you are not watching". It also locks out most functions on the remote so you do not accidentally interrupt the recording. Some buttons will cause a small "REC" icon to appear, so you do not use the remove unless you really want to cancel the recording.
