Just a heads up that there is a issue with some of the older LG, Hughes, Sony receivers. Apparently due to some software changes late last week, these units are at risk.
If you lose power or attempt to reset the boxes (I did because I lost all on-line guide data) the boxes will fail the channel set up procedure,
Most often when you call they will tell you your box is broken and offer to sell you a replacement or upgrade to the MPEG4 versions.
Don't unplug or reset your boxes till this has past.

Can you be any more specific? I use a lot of Hughes GAEBOs (which are the same as SONY B65s, if I recall correctly) in my commercial, SMATV headends because they are stable as hell, and if I ever have to replace them, I'll be in deep doo-doo.
Fortunately for me, no one ever calls for the guide on these receivers because they are dedicated to one chanel, but I would think that a power interruption might also trigger an involuntary reset and request for a guide.

Power interruption killed my Hughes HTL-HD

My Country Club had two HTL-HDs behind the bar in the lounge. On Friday night I went in and saw that one of them could not receive Sat. channels, while the other one was fine. I tried to power reset and channel search, but it would not work. It did say that the signal level was high enough.
The happy ending is that management had already scheduled a complete replacement upgrade to H21s and a 5 LNB dish, which happened today (Sunday).
I like the picture and new channels on the H21, but I am really going to miss those HTL-HDs, Hughes really built a great Sat. receiver with them.

I'm convinced that in a war room at the headquarters they kept score of how many people they were able to get off the mpeg2 systems and upgrade to the mpeg4 this weekend. As soon as they get enough of us off they will pull the plug and re-allocate the bandwidth.
I'd be happy to upgrade, Just give this 12 year veteran who has spent over $15,000 with the company the same kind of deal that they offer new customers. Don't ask me to pay out of pocket to upgrade. And don't ask me to pretend to cancel to get the best offers. Rant, rant rant....
