Hi, live in Brooklyn recently hooked up my new HDTV to TWC latest DVR Scientific Atlantic Explorer 8300 HDC box
This dvr recorder worked fine on my old hd crt tv with video component cables
When i hooked it up HDMI direct to my new HDTV everything was fine and could get all HD signals
Problem was as soon as TV was shut off or inputs changed on a HD channel and put on again all HD channels were in 480i
The only way to get HD signals back on HD channels were to go SD channel first then go to any HD channel and then it would work
this only happens when tv is shut off or inputs are changed not when cable box is shut off
TWC tech came to my home and said there were many problems with HDMI connection with HDTV and that this was new Technology and that the software was bad and not perfected
He said many people dont even get picture on HD channels with hdmi
He saiid my problem was different then other people and that his foreman would come to my home with hdtv and confirm my problem and swap boxes, but he thinks it would be the same even with new dvr box
I think its just bad cable box
Why would time warner cable put dvr box out that wont work hdmi with hdtv
Does anyone out there have this latest DVR box and does it work with no problems ?????

I live in near Dayton ,Ohio and have issue with my TW HD Scientific Atlantic box. I am using and hdmi cable also and things are fine untill I turn off TV. When I turn TV on I get an error message saying TV cannot display with DVI input and to select another input. Only way to clear error is to unplug box and then let box re-boot with TV on. I called TW on phone and they said they had no idea abiut this. So I went to TW outlet where I got the box and they said they are aware that many of the coustomers are having this problem and they could not even get the TV displays in the outlet to work with hdmi. I have tech comming on Sat. to try to fix error.

Hey Dayton, I'm up here in Findlay. I have bad news, I don't think the tech will be much help. I have been "spoofing" my 8300HDC for about 5 months, meaning everytime the box is turned off, I unplug the HDMI, turn the box on, reconnect HDMI, the box stays at 1080i...until today. I called the help desk, confirmed a patch went out very recently that seems to have eliminated the ability to spoof. It's very annoying to suffer a painful delay when changing channels in the 700 series waiting for the the HD box to interogate the signal while the TV screens flickers. I'm on the forum tonight looking for anyone who knows how to spoof this new software patch.
