Chargers-Colts preview
San Diego will win if ...
Its pass rush continues to trouble Peyton Manning. The San Diego 3-4 scheme tends to manhandle the Colts. Manning has played the Chargers three times this decade and is 1-2 with nine interceptions and 10 sacks. He threw six interceptions in his last outing against them in November.
Indianapolis will win if ...
It can bottle up LaDainian Tomlinson. He's the NFL rushing champion and the guy the Chargers lean on to win games. He scored 18 touchdowns this season. Defenses stack the line to stop Tomlinson and dare quarterback Philip Rivers to beat them. The Colts will do likewise.
Keys to Sunday's game
1 A return to health
The Colts lost an NFL runner-up 81 games by starters this season. Five starters missed at least three games each in December, and wide receiver Marvin Harrison missed the final 10 games. All five of those starters are expected back, and Sunday will be the healthiest the Colts have been since Oct. 22. Indy won 13 games with a partial team. They'll be even better with a full team.
2 Where's Cromartie?
Antonio Cromartie didn't start for the Chargers at cornerback until the ninth game of the season – against the Colts. It became his coming-out party. Cromartie picked off Peyton Manning three times and went on to lead the NFL with 10 interceptions en route to his first Pro Bowl. If Cromartie has another field day, there will be an upset.
3 Joseph the Quiet
Joseph Addai rushed for 1,072 yards and scored 15 TDs for the Colts. But Addai had all four of his 100-yard rushing games, his only 100-yard receiving game and nine of his touchdowns in the first eight games. He scored only six touchdowns the rest of the way and never rushed for more than 75 yards in a game. He's better than that – and needs to be for the Colts to repeat.Joseph Addai rushed for 1,072 yards and scored 15 TDs for the Colts. Key numbers
CHARGERS
48 San Diego led the NFL with 48 takeaways, including 30 interceptions. Six of those takeaways came in a November victory against the Colts.
COLTS
19 Indianapolis did the second-best job of protecting the football in the NFL this season, turning the ball over 19 times. Only the Patriots were better, with 15 giveaways.

Anyone else getting some strange audio like I am on WFSB-DT via Comcast? Picture looks great just like yesterday.
Erik Tracy 01-13-08, 01:23 PM Wow - PQ sucks in San Diego, CBS/KFMB HD via TWC.
And I thought the Patriots game last night was bad - this is worse - the macroblocking is horrible on ANY type of motion.
Keep the camera still and it looks really good.
Move at all and I see big ugly blocking.
I've got an email to S.D. TWC to see if they do rate shaping.
Go Colts!

paudemge 01-13-08, 01:32 PM I"m seeing the same thing in Tulsa on both COX and OTA KOTV. Other than pixelation or macroblocking the quality looks good. And actually now that I'm writing this it seems to have gotten a little better.

Lucky you ;)
Even on field level close ups of the players as they move on the field - the background across the whole display is like a tiled mosaic blur.
Even slow motion replays look fuzzy, no crisp edges.

It's hard to describe but it almost sounds like a jet engine.

most cable companies pass what they get from the local station. rate shaping HD locals are not the norm on any cable network. That's not true.
Many cableco's reduce HD image quality. Probably more than pass it untouched.
Erik Tracy 01-13-08, 01:40 PM Here's the reply I got from TWC:
I am sorry you were unhappy with the quality of the picture on that the
channel. Time Warner Cable does not alter any programming - we simply
transmit the broadcast from the channels when we receive it. If you would
like to complain about any quality of the picture or programming, please
feel free to contact the channels directly.
Thank you for contacting Time Warner Cable.
I guess I have to live with crummy games on CBS from TWC.
Grrr.. :(
Like a high pitch whine? From what channel?
I'm listening through the TV speakers and actually a propeller engine better describes the sound. It sounds like it has to do with the crowd as it is most noticeable during San Diego's drives.
vurbano 01-13-08, 01:43 PM Awesome PQ from CBS OTA once again in superior 1080i resolution for sports, puts the FOX bitstarved 720p crap to shame every week.
bigevan23 01-13-08, 01:47 PM PQ in NYC on RCN HD is pretty fantastic, I'd say its the best looking of the year. Fox typically stinks in this area, especially their in-studio pre and halftime shows... they look like upconverted 480p broadcasts.
OggideM 01-13-08, 01:48 PM picture is ok (no real annoying macroblocking, etc) here, KDKA Pittsburgh via Comcast however there is way more "grain" in the image than usual on the field cams and slow mos

Because the studio shows are - well, actually, upconverted from 480i. Someone pointed this out to me on the thread about Saturday's FOX game.

Not necessarily.
First, check the HDTV Local Forum to see what your local CBS station is doing (subchannels or not). Then consider getting a DTV tuner and antenna. You may be surprised.

OTA looks good with very little macroblocking viewed on a 37" LCD.

Thanks.
skyehill 01-13-08, 02:24 PM Wow, the Oreo commercial with Peyton and Eli is about as bad as TV can get. How much money does Peyton need? Used to be bad that he was a whiney QB, but now he's an ad whore too. Makes it more fun to watch when they lose.
ccotenj 01-13-08, 02:26 PM pq pretty good. relatively sharp. good color. no pixelation on main cams. very occasional swimming turf. a bit of pixelation in background of closeups. no breakups like in last night's game.
aq bad. i don't know what is going on here, but it's horribly unbalanced to the front, and when the crowd gets really loud it sounds like the signal is clipping at the source (i think this is what the earlier poster was referring to with the 'propeller' sound)...
comcast south jersey.
man, the chargers got jobbed on that holding call on the interception return. that was weak at best.
kevinivey 01-13-08, 02:28 PM the fix is in. "we must protect the colts from themselves"
ncxcstud 01-13-08, 02:29 PM While the Oreo cookie commercial is pretty dumb, most of Peyton's commercials are pretty good and funny. His priceless peptalk ones are hilarious.

I wish the announcers would inform the television audience that a flag has been thrown rather than waiting until after the player runs another 60 years and scores a touchdown.
Was that a valid hold? Could not tell from the description from the announcers.
Erik Tracy 01-13-08, 02:33 PM OTA looks good with very little macroblocking viewed on a 37" LCD.
Then, if I believe TWC and they do nothing with the feed, I'm at a loss as to why the PQ is so bad.
I've seen other games (not on CBS) that look ALOT crisper, Discovery HD is very good, Blu-ray is jaw dropping sharp on my HDTV.
Hmmm...perplexed and disappointed....

Based on the replays, no, it was not a hold. A call like that being made in the playoffs makes you wonder why they continue to let a moron like Phil Lucket referee games in the regular season, let alone the playoffs.

Areee. Last night's telecast was top notch.
Oh, Oh, Green Bay has been labled the team of destiny. That means they lose next week.
doogiehowser 01-13-08, 02:38 PM CBS MUST INCREASE BROADCAST POWER!!! I get every OTA HD channel except CBS. Not once have I recieved CBS.
It does not matter how good CBS HD is if most of the people can not get it OTA HD.

boomer hammered luckett during the halftime show. rightly so. i don't believe in "fixes", i just think it was a bad call by someone who is prone to bad calls.
as far as peyton goes, if i was in his shoes, i'd cash every check i could. what the heck. might as well ride the gravy train as long as it is running.

seems to me like outdoor night games simply are brighter and more vibrant than any other telecast... baseball games are like that too... and i know when i'm at a game in person, it always looks better at night than during the day...
edit: starting to get the occasional picture breakup, similar to last night's game.

it would be your local affiliate, not cbs... and it seems to me like plenty of people seem to be able to get it ota, so i'm not sure about the "most people" reference....

If you can not get HD OTA and DirecTV does not provide HD locals, you should be eligible for the network HD channels from either LA or NY.
lovethe5.1 01-13-08, 02:53 PM nothing in the rears, I have to turn the whole thing up and then lower the center so the talent is not overwhelming in the center to get anything from ls rs.

Is that not challengable? With three seconds left in the half, you'd figure that'd be a booth review.

no, holding penalties cannot be challenged.
That Manning haircut commercial was hilarious. Rockin the do since he was 5 :D
I had noticed some mosquito effect around players earlier in the game but haven't seen it recently. WISH via Insight clear QAM.

icemannyr 01-13-08, 03:02 PM WCBS-DT NYC FIOS TV
Something is up with the audio today.
The announcers audio is not clean and I'm getting a strange effect on the crowd noise as if the L and R are channels are not in sync.
I'm listening to a 2.0 down mix of the 5.1 feed and Greg keeps getting burried by the crowd and the CBS music is low.
Also watching the SD feed on a TV with only mono audio I'm getting a flange echo on the audio.
icemannyr 01-13-08, 03:04 PM It's hard to describe but it almost sounds like a jet engine.
Yes, I hear it when the crowd is very loud. If you listen to the audio in mono, which I am on my small TV, the effect is worse.
MrBostn 01-13-08, 03:04 PM Looks fine on my hdhomerun. Can't say much about the sound as I'm watching it on my laptop.
I really hate the Chargers..so whiney when they lose. Hope we play the Colts.

Its the Colts adding to the crowd noice.
Its the Colts adding to the crowd noice.
You know, I've been to Colts games at the RCA Dome, and I never thought that it sounded as if noise was being piped into the stadium. I've always thought of that as ridiculous assertions by other teams. Its just loud.
Well, the Lucas Oil Stadium will most likely not carry over the same acoustics that the RCA Dome has. If the noise continues, then the NFL will have something to look into.
SNF Mixer 01-13-08, 03:16 PM picture is a little softer than last night's game, at least via Twc in Wilmington, nc
You know, I've been to Colts games at the RCA Dome, and I never thought that it sounded as if noise was being piped into the stadium. I've always thought of that as ridiculous assertions by other teams. It is ridiculous, at least if you believe the NFL, who looked into it.
MrBostn 01-13-08, 03:20 PM Well I suspect they drop microphones everywhere, and the crowd noice gets pumped through the sound system. Thus adding to it.
They don't add noise by way of soundtracks etc...

Only the NJ Nets did that a few years ago.:p
OK, SD has gone ahead, but does anybody believe SD can hold Indy without a TD in the next drive absent a turnover?
SNF Mixer 01-13-08, 03:23 PM I've never heard fake crowd pumped into the RCA Dome whenever we have been there.
Poor mixer was just set up by the announcers. "listen to this crowd!" sounds like the front of the truck gave instructions to jack it up.
Living room quarterbacking is fun
icemannyr 01-13-08, 03:24 PM I love the connections in the game,
Has CBS mentioned that Rivers was the NY Giants draft pick and Eli Manning was the Chargers pick but there was that trade that sent Manning to the Giants and Rivers to the Chargers?
skyehill 01-13-08, 03:25 PM Looks fine on my hdhomerun. Can't say much about the sound as I'm watching it on my laptop.

As a Pats fan, I hope we play the Colts too. They do not look good.
MrBostn 01-13-08, 03:26 PM Yeah I trust the NFL. (I wonder if Polian, who is on the rules committee, ran the investigation)
Plus I know it gets Indy fans worked up.
Just needling y'all.
I've never heard fake crowd pumped into the RCA Dome whenever we have been there.
Poor mixer was just set up by the announcers. "listen to this crowd!" sounds like the front of the truck gave instructions to jack it up.
Living room quarterbacking is funBy the way, for those who don't know, SNF Mixer is the audio mixer for the NBC Sunday Night games, and previously for ABC Monday Night Football.
Speaking of the Pats, did you hear that girl with the New England jersey for the punt/pass/kick contest getting booed by the Colts fans? She's 15! She looked embarrassed.
As a Pats fan, I hope we play the Colts too. They do not look good.
The Colts look fine. Take away the two interceptions, one a fluke, and it's a whole different game.
skyehill 01-13-08, 03:29 PM Another phantom call in favor of the Colts. This is just ridiculous. Mike Perrera should have a TV show every Tuesday on the NFL channel where he defends a lot of the garbage calls his teams make...especially now when these are "all star" teams.
Speaking of the Pats, did you hear that girl with the New England jersey for the punt/pass/kick contest getting booed by the Colts fans? She's 15! She looked embarrassed.
Poor sportsmanship on the part of the Colts fans; booing a 15 year old just of because of where she's from.
hokiefan 01-13-08, 03:30 PM The fix is in! What a horrible PI call that was.
skyehill 01-13-08, 03:30 PM The Colts look fine. Take away the two interceptions, one a fluke, and it's a whole different game.
Talking about their D which looks atrocious.
There, does that make you feel better? A penalty on the Colts. I'm tired of people saying the refs play for one team or the other.
ccotenj 01-13-08, 03:32 PM wow, another BRUTAL call there... maybe there was something we couldn't see, but i'm still looking for pass interference there... again, i don't believe in "fixes", just a bad call...
no, indy doesn't pump in crowd noise... the nfl investigated and they don't do it... geez... c'mon people...
as a pats fan, i'd rather see rivers and the chargers show up rather than peyton and the colts 7 days a week and twice on sundays... let's give peyton a little respect here... would you REALLY rather have peyton and the boys show up rather than rivers?
hey wendel, in your professional opinion, is it microphone placement that is the problem here today? like i said in my first post, everything is massively unbalanced to the front, and it almost sounds like it is clipping on their end.
ccotenj 01-13-08, 03:33 PM Poor sportsmanship on the past of the Colts fans; booing a 15 year old just of because of where she's from.
you beat me to it ken... normally one has to be an eagle fan to stoop that low... :p
skyehill 01-13-08, 03:33 PM There, does that make you feel better? A penalty on the Colts. I'm tired of people saying the refs play for one team or the other.
The call on the Colts was a real call. Show me the PI on the Chargers that wasn't there. I don't care who the bad calls are against, I just care that these "All Star" ref squads continue to make garbage calls in the biggest games of the season.
hokiefan 01-13-08, 03:34 PM There, does that make you feel better? A penalty on the Colts. I'm tired of people saying the refs play for one team or the other.
Actual penalty calls do not make up for phantom penalty calls.
skyehill 01-13-08, 03:36 PM you beat me to it ken... normally one has to be an eagle fan to stoop that low... :p
Oh but Indy and their fans are the classy ones...right? Right?! Booing a young girl that accomplished more in her short life than any of the morons booing her. Bravo, Indy fans. Bravo. I'm not dumb enough to think this wouldn't have happened in pretty much every stadium in the league though. It's just more glaring when it comes from the self-professed classiest fans in the league.
ccotenj 01-13-08, 03:38 PM deep breaths skye.... deep breaths... ;)
Oh but Indy and their fans are the classy ones...right?
No, he said the opposite about the Colts fans; they were wrong for booing her.
skyehill 01-13-08, 03:43 PM No, he said the opposite about the Colts fans; they were wrong for booing her.
I wasn't speaking to him. ;)
Where are CBS' sideline reporters finding out the condition of Rivers?
MrBostn 01-13-08, 03:51 PM Those Chargers are a bit soft. Tomlinson, and Rivers on the bench. I guess they're California dreaming....
Where are CBS' sideline reporters finding out the condition of Rivers?
CBS does not use sideline reporters.
hokiefan 01-13-08, 03:53 PM Where are CBS' sideline reporters finding out the condition of Rivers?
Yea no foolin. Are there any sideline reporters in this game?
BigDawgQC 01-13-08, 03:53 PM And moving the ball down the field fine without them.
hokiefan 01-13-08, 03:53 PM Those Chargers are a bit soft. Tomlinson, and Rivers on the bench. I guess they're California dreaming....
Funny how the backups are steam rollin this Colts defense...
MrBostn 01-13-08, 03:57 PM I agree. They backups are playing great, they really stepped up, but I just think Rivers and Tomlinson should man up and play.
skyehill 01-13-08, 03:57 PM Funny how the backups are steam rollin this Colts defense...
Like I said, the Indy D looks terrible. But as a Pats fan, our D didn't look so great last night...or the past few weeks...either.
Rivers better be extremely hurt to be sitting out. You'd have to shackle Brady, Manning, or Favre to the sidelines to keep them off the field.
ccotenj 01-13-08, 03:58 PM what's amazing is how the colts defense suffers so badly without bob sanders in there... i can see there being a bit of a dropoff, but without him in there, it's like they are a completely different team...
hokiefan 01-13-08, 03:58 PM I agree. They backups are playing great, they really stepped up, but I just think Rivers and Tomlinson should man up and play.
It'd be nice to have sideline reports about LTs injury, but from looking at the replays of when he hurt his knee, it could be an ACL problem. So if by "man up" you mean throw away the rest of his career, then I'm wondering why you are typing on an Internet message board and not playing the game :).
skyehill 01-13-08, 03:59 PM what's amazing is how the colts defense suffers so badly without bob sanders in there... i can see there being a bit of a dropoff, but without him in there, it's like they are a completely different team...
He's in there.
ccotenj 01-13-08, 03:59 PM i hardly think that ldt is soft... c'mon people, reality check...
MrBostn 01-13-08, 04:01 PM I'm not a football player. Football players play football. He's on the sideline laughing and such. I doubt it's an ACL. Ever see a guy do down with that...they cry.
CPanther95 01-13-08, 04:07 PM you beat me to it ken... normally one has to be an eagle fan to stoop that low... :p
It's all part of the game and was good natured. Even the girl smiled at it.
CPanther95 01-13-08, 04:08 PM CBS has shown off some stellar slo-mo / freeze frame capabilities.
paule123 01-13-08, 04:08 PM Watching WOIO-DT Cleveland here, one WeatherNow sub.
PQ looks very good, but a little softer than last night's Pats game.
The audio on a couple of my standard TV's (built in stereo speakers) has the weird echo chamber effect others are mentioning. I don't notice it as much on my main AV receiver with the DD5.1 though.
BigDawgQC 01-13-08, 04:10 PM I agree with Panther95. They meant no malice by it. Just rivalry funning. Lighten up folks.
SnakeEyes 01-13-08, 04:11 PM Is anyone else getting lower center channel PBP and a LOT in the surrounds?
ccotenj 01-13-08, 04:12 PM It's all part of the game and was good natured. Even the girl smiled at it.
maybe so. i'm not convinced of that though. but i'm willing to let it go... :)
although i would have felt better about it if she had flipped the crowd the bird when they booed her... :p

Yes.
ccotenj 01-13-08, 04:13 PM Is anyone else getting lower center channel PBP and a LOT in the surrounds?
yes, the mix has definitely changed... much more in the surrounds than before...
skyehill 01-13-08, 04:13 PM If SD loses now, it's because their coaches lack the balls to throw a pass. Indy, NE, and GB would have thrown for the first down to end the game...and have in the past. Cowards. It's what cost them in the past too.
1:30 for the Colts to drive 70 yards. Whatta ya say?
And Marvin's abscence is concerning.
And Wayne got smacked.
wdkerbow 01-13-08, 04:14 PM An accomplishment like that at that age, should be met with nothing but applause. Booing a 15 year old girl just because it's rivalry funning, is in-excusable.
Even the girl smiled at it.
Yeah, I think even she's smart enough to know the crowd was reacting to a mention of the Patriots and not booing her or denigrating her efforts.
Watching the game from WISH 8.1 OTA. I live about 12 miles from the transmitter and have a cheapo High-VHF/UHF antenna in the attic feeding a Sony 40S3000 via about 40 feet of RG-6 quad shield. PQ looks great! Less than a half dozen video break-ups during the game and I think one of them came from the truck. Audio in Dolby 5.1 and sounds good. Pretty flat sound field on long shots. On close-ups, there's definitely crowd noise behind me.
P.S. Come on, Reggie. Get up.

easy to say when you have peyton, tom or brett playing qb... i don't let billy volek throw a pass there under ANY circumstances...
Well, not this year for Colts fans.
icemannyr 01-13-08, 04:17 PM So does this mean we can stop with all the Peyton Manning NFL Themed ads and they can use someone else?
skyehill 01-13-08, 04:17 PM Philip Rivers is the epitome of classless, which is ironic considering how much whining they've done in the past about the actions of other teams. Screaming at fans? Please, Philip, you weren't even on the field for the last quarter. Scrub.
And the defending champions are eliminated.
Nice job Rivers, taunting the fans when you win. Wow. You deserved to get flipped off. Too bad you didn't return the favor on camera, because in the past players have received a fine for it.

yes, this is true. given some comments from players on other teams, he isn't exactly beloved by other teams as well... as noted in last week's charger game thread, he doesn't exactly lead the league in maturity...

I agree!
and it's not if they were cheering the other contestants, they weren't because remember the Chargers had just scored to take the lead but they went out of their way to boo this young girl, that is classless no matter how you look at it.
In the end though, the girl had the last laugh because all those people that were just booing her went home crying!
So does this mean we can stop with all the Peyton Manning NFL Themed ads and they can use someone else?
God I wish that were true. If I have to watch that, "before Peyton Manning thinks it" commercial one more time...
Anyone notice all weekend on CBS sports, a lot of picture breakup/pixelating for a split second? Doesn't affect the audio. It's happened ALL weekend, playoff games and basketball games.
I know it's at least my affiliate's fault, I was watching the New England game last night on FiOS at a friend's place not far away. He was having the same issues.
I'm on Comcast, watching KYW in Philly.
Run4two 01-13-08, 07:43 PM Like him or love him, Phillip Rivers is San Diego's Jim McMahon. I love it!!!! I was so upset when they got rid of Drew Brees. But now, I'm thrilled. Great move!!! Love him or hate him, the boy's got spunk!!! I just hope he's not too hampered with injuries next week.

yup, i had it too... kyw over comcast as well...
Few thoughts....
Amazing Win...
Sorry colts fans...really I mean that it sucks to lose...I was pissed for a week last year.
Philip could be more mature (and I believe he will) but I like the fire (and from what I've heard/read so do the players). RE Soft...did anyone watch last weeks or this game?
In the post game, he inferred it was coaches decision to keep him out. Then we was ready to go but that was the drive Volek was on a roll and the they didn't want to disturb the momentum. After that they were in the lead from there on out, no reason to put him back in and risk further injury. It was up to the defense from there on out. When there were pinned deep they were just going to run ...maybe a sideline pass...no reason to risk further injury. I think going with Volek and Turner was a gutsy call (and great call in retrospect), Turner may have matched up better with the Faster smaller Colts D at the end of the game.
OH BTW...PQ pretty good on FiOS, sound OK, didn't notice low center channel
coyoteaz 01-13-08, 10:29 PM Wow - PQ sucks in San Diego, CBS/KFMB HD via TWC.
And I thought the Patriots game last night was bad - this is worse - the macroblocking is horrible on ANY type of motion.
Keep the camera still and it looks really good.
Move at all and I see big ugly blocking.
I've got an email to S.D. TWC to see if they do rate shaping.
Go Colts!
Have you considered that the issue may be with settings in your display? Edge enhancement and excess sharpness tend to make blocking worse by exaggerating the edge between blocks, not to mention creating unnatural ringing around objects on the screen and highlighting mosquito noise. My new Samsung showed awful artifacting on every channel on its default settings, but once I turned off torch mode, disabled edge enhancement, and turned down the sharpness, many of the problems with the broadcast disappeared and the image looks a lot more natural now. There is still some blocking due to multicasting affiliates, but full-rate channels like HD Theatre and ESPN are pristine.

I tried changing all possible settings during the game to clean up the the image including mosquito nr, video nr, block nr, and sharpness - but these did not seem to do much at all.
Like I mentioned before...same HDTV..same setup..same game..same day...ESPN showing the same highlights looked WAY better than CBS/KFMB.
TWC says I get what they get...ok...maybe I do.
I'm waiting to here from KFMB in San Diego and I posted in a local HDTV forum for San Diego to see if others were seeing the bad macroblocking.
Of course, I didn't have any beers until later...so maybe others just didn't notice...;)
Since most folks here are tired of my whining - I'll just shut my yapper.

Did you try downloading this OTA clip to compare:

TWC changes it to QAM and probably doesn't provide 18Mbps to you.

Based on your post in the San Diego thread back in December (mentioning dropouts on digital channels), you may have a signal level problem with the cable. Have you tried taking the cable feed that comes directly into the building straight to the SA8300HDC without any splitters? Is this a quality RG6 coax cable (not RG59) ?
There's a thread here on AVS for the SA8300HD that explains how to get into on-screen diagnostics and read the incoming signal level. You might want to check that out.
Last but not least, just call TWC and tell them you can't get a good picture on CBS and have them send a tech out to check the signal levels and wiring.
Poor sportsmanship on the part of the Colts fans; booing a 15 year old just of because of where she's from.
The girl who got booed has been invited by the Patriots to the AFC Championship game and will be introduced pregame at Foxboro.

Where she'll get the ovation she rightfully deserves! :)

That's gotta be a thrill for her. Congrats again to her. And if a young girl/boy from SD had also won, I'd welcome them at the game as well.
I certainly won't bash the Indy fans for booing the girl, because what they did is what you'd see in every stadium in every city that has a rivalry. For Indy, their rival is the Pats. Speaking for New Englanders, the Colts are not our rivals. They're a fun team to play against, but they're too non-descript, and their town is too boring to make for a good rivalry. Our rivals are the Yankees.

+1
And Rivers is a crybaby, punk. I like how L.T. says the Pats were such a disrespectful team last year and his team is now twice as bad. Go Pack!

Sorry I disagree, I have watched the introduction of these winners for many years and in many different stadiums and they have always been met with at least polite applause. The Indy fans deserve bashing for booing this 14 year old kid but am not surprised that Eagles agrees with you afterall they booed Santa Claus over there.

I won't make any excuses for the fans who were at the game as I wasn't there. I did see an interview with the girl on our local NBC affiliate. She said she understood that the fans were reacting to her jersey, not her. Apparently, she's become quite the celebrity and is getting a lot of press attention. The Patriots have invited her to be honorary captain on Sunday and to participate in the coin toss. That's pretty cool. Also, Indianapolis folks have put together a trip for her and her family to attend the Indianapolis 500 next May.

I wouldn't be surprised that she and the girl from Hawaii wearing the representative Chargers jersey were warned beforehand that the fans might react negatively based on the uniforms they were wearing. It's good that neither was affected by the bad attitude of the Colts fans.
Kudos to those girls for keeping things in proper perspective. Nice touch by the Patriots (and the Colts management) to invite her to special events to make up for the bad move.
CPanther95 01-17-08, 01:45 PM She'll get the largest, loudest, standing ovation ever recieved in New England.
They should have her ride in on a Donkey or mule with a Colt horseshoe logo on its ass. :D
