Hi,
My set-up used to be a 27" CRT and DVD player in the master bedroom. Two floors below in the basement is an audio receiver that drives the ceiling speakers in the master bedroom and master bathroom. So I've got an RCA audio pair that goes from the DVD's composite out to a pair of jacks in the bedroom wall and from there down to the basement to the audio receiver's LD/DVD input.
Been working fine for 10 years.
For Christmas, I bought myself a beautiful Panasonic 50" plasma display. Still using the same audio setup. But now I'm noticing a buzzing when the audio receiver in the basement is tuned to its LD/DVD input. At first I thought it was noise due to an APC surge protector I added to protect the plasma, but after a half-day of experimentation, I found the culprit:
Simply having the plasma's AC plug plugged in (even if the display is not turned on) is what causes the buzzing. The electrical outlet is less than a foot away from where the audio lines enter the wall.
Is there some way I can protect the audio line from interference from the AC line?
Thanks!
. . . Phil
