I'm in need of a little help, I'm swapping the HD-8 lens on my VPH1272 for PT-65 lens.

The Hd 8 are all the same part number. The PT-65's I have are 3 different part numbers 4-034-141-01, 4-034-141-02 AND 4-034-141-03.
Do the PT-65's have to be mounted specific color tubes?

Thanks

I'm not sure, the easy way to check is to look through the lenses and see if they are tinted. If they are one will be clear (blue) green (green) and red (red). If the lenses aren't tinted you can put them on in any order.

However I doubt they are color corrected lenses as the 1272 already has tinted glycol and the PT-65 was OEM on some 1272's

I've done the swap from a 1272 with no issues; the lenses are clear. I didn't even check the model numbers; I like to live life on the edge.

My astig is so awful that I can't comment on the sharpness, although it does seem better than the HD8s, and I've seen a few photos suggesting there's a substantial difference.

I have seen lots of pt-65's.. all had just the typical blue AR coating. Now, if they were pt-43's, each one would have its own tint and color sticker for R,G, and B.

Sonynut, are the PT43s in the same league performance wise as the 65s, and are they the same form factor? Might be interesting if they're tinted well enough to fix some of the barco orange/yellow issues.

Yes. They focus up just as well as the '65's and are the same form factor. They are more rare, since they only came with 1270's. My friends and I say they help provide richer colors, but many on the forums disagree. They are coated throughout the whole bunch of internal lenses, 3 different colors per tube. I can't say they are color filtered, as I have never seen an actual st of color filtered lenses like the HD-144/145.

As I said, they do seem to help the colors, though. Richer, more vivid colors are what we noticed :)

Thanks for all the replies. Looking through the lenses they all look the same. I installed them last night and the focus is improved. some of this improvement may be due to dirt on the lens that was on the blue tube, there was a lot of dust on this lens, probally from some internal fan blowing on it.
