View Full Version : Sky High
wormraper 01-14-08, 02:04 PM Ok, I searched for this and couldn't find it. I know that Sky High is not extremely high on the Tier list (tier 4 to be exact). But is it a decent improvement over the DVD?? (I don't have the DVD at all so this isn't exactly double dipping). the reason I ask is that Tomb raider is on that list and the BD was a decent jump in pq/aq over the horrible transfer of the DVD.

Don't trust the tier list. I think this is more a forgotten title than anything else. I remember the BD PQ/SQ as very solid all around, but I didn't see the DVD for comparison. It's a decent flick, I'd say pick it up!
David Susilo 01-14-08, 02:46 PM I love this movie. Can't find a review anywhere, though.

sweet. Definitely picking this one up.
Adam_ME 01-14-08, 03:54 PM I've never watched the DVD, but I have the Blu-ray version and it looks and sounds great. It's also a very colorful film so the transfer has a lot of pop. Oh and it doesn't hurt that the movie is terrific.
JosephShaw 01-14-08, 04:20 PM It's much better than Tier 4. Some entries on the Tier thread don't make any sense, while others are spot on.
BStecke 01-14-08, 04:34 PM I never pay much attention to the tier threads, since people can't agree on anything around here. I watched Sky High both on DVD and Blu-ray, and the Blu-ray is a vast improvement over the DVD. As someone said before, I think this movie slips through a lot of cracks, which is a shame, I think it's great.

thanks for all the replies guys. I rented this a while ago on SD and I loved the movie to death. I was just worried that if it wasn't an improvement from the DVD it might behove me to just get a used copy on DVD for like $5.
thanks again.

Thats the great thing about the list, its constantly shifting and changing. If you think you can help out the list, totally put your opinion into the discussion. Only through this can a solid list come about.
David Susilo 01-14-08, 07:29 PM damn! How can I miss Highdef Disgest's review! Thanks for the link. I'm buying it right now!
NoThru22 01-15-08, 09:19 AM Very fun movie! As long as it's an improvement over the DVD, I'd say go for it.
wormraper 01-15-08, 10:15 AM I picked it up last night. It was definitely an improvement over the DVD by a large jump. It does NOT belong it Tier 4. I'd put it high Tier 3, mayyyyybe bottom of Tier 2.
gotspeed6 01-16-08, 11:37 PM Good movie, we watched it tonight. My son was ROFL at mad scientist big head.
It's been a while since I rented it but I did rent this one first on SD-DVD and liked it. I now have the blu-ray edition and from my recollection the SD-DVD was filled with noise and the blu-ray edition is an upgrade. This one has been in B1G1 deals several times. Too bad you didn't pick it up then because that was an excellent deal on this movie.
UCFKevin 01-17-08, 12:29 AM I'm in that movie!
Pretty good flick, actually.
