Just bought a Sony BDP-S300 on Saturday and have been trying to get the audio optimized. I own a Sony STR-DE985 Receiver which will not support Blue Ray technology via optical or digital coaxial cables; the sound is not steady.
I have since learning of this problem, connected the BDP to the STR via 6 analog wires for the 5.1 Direct. Watching my first film, 300, with this set up I got to say it was pretty impressive but I'm still unsure if I have the best set up.
Now to my question. In BDP set up, there are the following options:
Dolby Digital or Downmix PCM
DTS or Downmix PCM
DTS Downmix: Str or Lt/Rt
Audio (HDMI): Auto or PCM
I have read the instructions 100x and am still unclear. Does this have any inpact on 5.1 analog direct to a receiver?
Also posted on BlueRay Forums, but figured people here would now more.
