Hi all,
I'm looking to replace my current monopoles of 5.1 as in the picture. Would speakers like bipoles be ideal in this placement? Please also note that the surround left speaker is kinda close to the wall corner.

Thanks a lot in advance! :)

Frankly, without acoustic treatment and with such asymmetric acoustical positioning, I am not optimistic about any improvement. Sorry.

Thanks a lot for the reply!

How about those "omni-poles" by Mirage in this case?

Cheers!

omni-poles from mirage will be more of a problem because the radiation pattern is 360 degrees so the one close to the side wall in the corner will pull the soundstage to that side. You might be able to compensate with level matching but it really is no good. Dipoles will have less of a problem but will make the surround feel more diffuse. I believe cambridge soundworks used to make a newton line of subsats with the S300 having a switch allowing the speaker to fire as a monopole or dipole and even bipole - so something like that would be great. As Kal mentioned room treatment really goes a long way in setups like these and for not that much money either. It will make your system sound much better so I would consider a complete kit from Auralex or similar.
