I'm putting up the drywall in my theater and I need to decide where the projector is going to be mounted - duh.

I have a couple of questions. The projector is a Barco 1208s/e. The Lens program lists 134.2" to the mounting bracket. I thought I read somewhere that you should move the projector closer by 5% or so. Please confirm whether the 134.2 or something less would be appropriate. I really can't mount it and try it... I have to get it close before I enclose the ceiling.

My other question is the Lens program shows the mounting of the projector as level.... how far off of level can it be mounted or does it need to be level? In other words, is there any adjustments for keystoning assuming it's not mounted level.

I'm concerned that I might have to mount the projector lower than I wanted to in order to have the screen lower. I was hoping to be able to aim the projector *slightly* down instead.

Thanks! Bud

I think this is a question for any CRT projector - should it be mounted it 5% (or ?) closer to the screen in order to make sure I have a full screen using less than all the raster? If so, is 5% less the right number or is it even more (or less)?

Thanks. bud

5% closer is usually about right.

But to get it perfect set it up with max tube usage, put up a grid pattern on the green tube only and pull it back away from the screen until the image is the size you need. Measure this distance and use it.

Thanks for the info. I thought the idea was to *not* use all of the raster (i.e. max size) available?

You don't want to go over the edge with the active image. Stay about 3-5mm from the edge with the active image. The raster can go over the edge; just blank it out.
