Or behind a screen wall...

I have been looking around trying to get some ideas for my theater build, and somethings I am thinking about are the need for a stage and with that a custom wall for the screen. Some do it with the smx screens and their speakers hidden behind the screen others put their speakers flush with the wall the screen is on because thei build the wall out 12" and then the speakers arent in the middle of the room.

With my searching I found this,

I would agree that accoustically the speakers are effected when placed in any type of enclosure, so why do people do it? or am I missing something when they place them into a screen wall? I realize it is opn behind the wall so it isnt the same as being in a normal wall, but I would still think the audio would be effected.

With that said, I have rf-82s for the fron anf rf-62s for the the side and rear surrounds and I just cant imagine putting any of them in the wall. I know they will be big and in the room around the walls but with the ports on the back I think I would ruin the sound of these speakers in I encase them in any way.

I actually would think it would look cool as hell for the speakers to be completely visible like this: http://www.audiovideointeriors.com/507back/

especially if I add a rc-62 to sit on the floor like theirs. I realize klipsch isnt def tech, but what do you guys think about some nice cherry finished speakers surrounding a room as opposed to trying to hide them from everyones view...?

Most who put them in a screen wall use a faux wall covered with GOM or other AT fabric. they don't normally have partitions between the speakers behind that faux wall.

In my case all my speakers are hidden the fronts and front sub are behind the SMX and faux wall, my sides are enclosed in columns but again the column around the speaker is a frame with AT material same thing for my rears..

Now you said you personally think seeing the speakers is cool, if that is the case fine, do it that way. for some the look of a real theater without visible speakers is cool. It is all down to personal prefference but you can certainly do it without affecting the sound quality virtually at all.
as long as care is taken in how it is done.

Others have stuck them in containers basically and I guess they don't really care what it does to the sound as long as they can hear it. I don't know! I would never do that unless they were built to be built in.
