I've been thinking for a long time on how I can somewhat isolate sound and as well as not spend so much on sound isolation.

So, does anyone know of a study conducted by someone regarding how much sound is transferred via a single screw/bolt on a wood and stud/joist and that there is a thick rubber(ie. 1/2" to 1") in between? Below is a picture of what I just described. I'm sure that sound will still transfer but looks likes I would be able to massively reduce sound transmission with this approach. It will somewhat be a room within a room design.

It is a cheap solution as well! I would also be able to hang my 140 lbs projector. :D

What do you think guys? Please let me know your thoughts about this.

It's not going to work. I seem to recall reading that even if you used RSIC clips, just a couple of misplaced screws can completely negate the de-coupling efforts. Your bolt would just bypass the rubber bumper.

Honestly, RSIC clips and hat track really aren't that expensive. I think it cost me around $600 in total to do my room and IB chamber (ceiling and wall).
