I am one of the unfortunate many who bought an overpriced hdmi cable. I have prewired my house for 7.1, hdtv etc. my problem is my sheetrocker cut into my hdmi cable with his rotozip tool. I'm not familiar with the design of hdmi, but it looks as if just a little bit of the ground shield was damaged, not the internal conductors. Am I S.O.L. or should the signal still pass cleanly. I don't want to pull another wire if possible. thanks for the help

If all that got injured was the outer jacket and shield, yes, you should be just fine. If it's deeper than that, it could be trouble.

The only thing i am concerned with is the damaged section is about 6 - 8 inches away from an electrical outlet. Will this cause any interference to be transmitted to my tv?

No; I wouldn't worry about that at all. Six to eight inches is enough separation that there's not enough of a field to really cause a problem, and it'd have to be pretty strong to actually interfere with the HDMI signal.

You've been a huge help. I appreciate it much. I'm going to use your insight and use the cable until i know for sure that it will not work. The sheetrock is already up, so it will be just as easy (hard) to change it later vs. now. This is the answer i was hoping for. Thank you again.

I had my HTPC connected to my receiver. through a 25foot wire. I recently raised my HTPC to look at the back connection and in the process bent the mating parts between the male HDMI and the female HDMI adaptor
I tried to align the pins inside and tried to insert the make HDMI(25foot end) and in the process may have crushed the pins so they have now receded back into the terminal. What are my options at this point? I am so disappointed with this terminal that it cannot withstand a simple bending moment test.

Once all that happens usually you need to replace it sorry!

Sounds like your sheetrocker owes you an HDMI cable...

Before you run out and buy another 25' cable, connect an HDMi device such as a bluray or an HD cable box directly to your TV with a short cable and make sure you have a picture/sound. I hate to say this, but you might have damaged the input on the TV and the 25' cable might be fine. I find that half the time, when this happens, the device is broken and not the cable, unfortunately.
