I'm putting all my HT gear in a different room so need to get an RF remote. I've never had a universal remote before, let alone an RF one, so need some advice on a remote and a base station. It will be used to control:
Panasonic PT-AE2000U
Onkyo TX-SR605
plus
Comcast unit
DVD Player
I haven't purchased the comcast unit or DVD player, so don't know the model - perhaps someone can suggest a good one?
So yeah, I need RF remote / base station to control the above. I don't need an all singing, all dancing remote that'll turn the oven on and make the bed for me. I just need a cheap entry level setup that's good for a first remote.
All suggestions will be gratefully received!

I love my Harmony 890. I was able to pick it up from amazon for $250 shipped. The new harmony One looks like it has a better design for button size/layout but it doesnt have built in RF.
Thanks Prozach, I've heard the Harmony One is the nuts, but doesn't have RF. I must have RF. Does that $250 Amazon deal come with a base station? Like I said, I'm new to RF remotes; it needs a base station, right? Is it called a wireless RF extender? Please excuse my ignorance. But hey, at least I found this place! I'm sold on the Harmony 890. Looks just like what I'm after. I'm going to buy it. What else do I need?
URC RF20 w/ MRF-100B IR blaster for about $75 total. Search "RF20" at Amazon for picture and description. (I’m not promoting Amazon or their supplier. Just convenient place to view product.)
This is a great deal if you need/want a very good inexpensive entry level LCD universal with excellent ergonomics (IMO) and functionality, in addition to IR repeating. The blaster works great for the price (again IMO) and also has multiple wired IR flashers if need be.
Now that's more like it kbp! Especially as I'm looking for an entry level universal; $75 is much more sensible. I had a look on Amazon and the remote seems fine. Obviously more basic than the 890, but that's all I need. However, I couldn't find the bundle you described. Could you post a link for me please? (not promoting Amazon of course, but then I'm sure they don't need it anyway).

Cut and paste. It doesn't seem to work as a url.

The 890 has RF along with the base station. Just make sure you get the 890 and not the pro version as the pro version does not come with the "RF Wireless Extender" which costs $100 by itself.

Strange, whenever we try to pst this it messes with the link wherever the *'s are it should be "/ ref =" without the spaces.
The title is: URC RFS200 PowerPak Bundle w/ MasterControl RF20 and PowerBlaster
Does the URC RFS200 work with mythtv (linux PVR)? I currently have an ATI remote wonder RF remote and rf receiver that I use to control my myth box. Since this is a learning remote I figure I can just manually program all the buttons to match the remote wonder buttons but can the RFS200 learn rf commands from another remote or only IR commands?
Thanks all. I purchased the URC RFS200 PowerPak Bundle w/ MasterControl RF20 and PowerBlaster from Amazon, for $75. I'll let you know how I get on with it.

Tim-bo,
How did this work for you. Were you able to program the AE-2000u without any problems. I just got this remote and am trying to program my system with it. Samsung DVD, Yamaha RXV-3800 and the Panasonic AE-2000u. So far none of the given codes seems to be working for any of the components. Either I am doing something wrong or there is a problem with the remote itself. I'd like to know your experience with this remote.
Thanks.
