Just got my new new Sony 60A3000 and now I need a good DVD recorder.

I only get 2 HD channels and a few digital non HD but I want something with 1080p up conversion and built in tuners since I don't have a STB.

What are your suggestions in the $200 - $300 range? A built in VCR would be a plus but is not a must.

Thanx,
Happy A3000 Owner,
James Hawkins

I had been considering the SXRD for some time. IMHO the Sony deinterlacer and scaler provided in the TV will be superior to any low-end upconverter you'll get in currently available DVDR's.

Check out the Philips DVDR3575H/37 here. (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=940657)

If you did not need a hard drive, then I suggest you look at the Panasonic EZ series. You can get with or without a VCR and the upper end models will up convert. But as Kelson mentioned, your TV may do a better job at deinterlacing and upconverting.
