Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of transferring some old home videos of my dad, taken in 1987, onto DVDs for the family. The original is a VHS tape which has been in storage at my apartment. To the best of my knowledge it is the master.

When I went to transfer this video to DVD using my SV-2000, the colors were too bright - perhaps washed out? The greens and blues were much too bright. I still went ahead and transferred it to DVD anyway. I've transferred other tapes to DVD with this unit and haven't had this issue, so I know it's probably the tape.

Now I just need to know if there's anything I can do to fix this problem. I don't have a DVD-burner on my PC yet but am considering investing in one. Also, is using software with a DVD-burner for PC the only real practical way to fix this, and other video problems?

Thanx for your help.

Lynda :)

Do you still have the VHS tapes? If so I would try another VCR for the player. Maybe you would get better tracking or color/brightness reproduction. If you only have the DVD copies I'm gonna guess a PC would be your best bet, if that will even help you. It's always better to correct the problem closest to the source, instead of after it has been copied. Also since they were home movies, it's possible the problem originated with the camera itself.

My Pio 640 allows adjustment of the input signal. If your DVDR does that, try to adjust, before redubbing the VHS tape.
