I have been debating this for a couple of weeks and I cannot make up my mind. Id like some opinions.

I have about 20 Ps2 games which I still like to play. My Ps2 is dead.

I am upgrading to a Ps3.

I know the Ps3 80GB version can play most ps2 games, though emulated. 4 usb hubs, ethernet and wi fi.

I know the Ps3 40GB cannot play Ps2 games. It has 2 usb hubs, ethernet and wi fi.

I am leaning towards a new or used Ps2 and the Ps3 40GB instead of the 80GB version so that i dont wear the ps3 faster by playing ps2 games on it. The thing is if i got the 40GB, maybe some day i would regret it because of the 2 extra usb hubs. The only differences i see are the hard drives and usb hub connections. Maybe i am missing something else.

I dont want to pull the trigger just yet. what would you guys do?

if there is a similar thread on this a link would be great.

thanks

I wanted backwards compatibility so I went out and found a 60GB. Full back compat and 4 usb ports. I perferred to only have 1 box in my home theater instead of two. If you don't mind getting another ps2 and want the 40gb, you can always upgrade or get an external hard drive and a USB hub for additional ports.

Personally, playing PS2 games was big with me and I didn't want to have the clutter of having my PS2 hooked up as well..

I would go with the 60GB unit if you can find it or at least the 80GB unit...

Aren't the 40GB ones the only model so far to be manufactured with a newer/cooler chip? (65nm)
