It's not my favorite, but one of the most over the top theaters I've ever seen:

Reminds me of Ceasars Palace (which is a good thing!)

This one by Dennis and Company is pretty impressive. There is a thread here somewhere with more pics.

Practically anything that Theo Kalomirakis designs would qualify. I have his two coffee table books, Private Theaters and Great Escapes and they are loaded with nothing but eye candy.

Thanks ! I'd like to perhaps add a subset here of theaters we have actually seen. Some the incredibly beautiful rooms have performance flaws and some plain rooms that wouldn't wow anyone could be incredible with the lights down.

I've personally been in two TK theaters and four DE ones (and about twenty total)

My opinion is that the best theaters are ones that are tastefully done, have a get away feel but minimize performance compromises getting there.

Then of course there would be almost any of Theo Kalomirakis' designed theaters. At least for looks.

WOW, those books are expensive, and they were made quite a while back. I guess technology has changed, but the looks of rooms shouldn't have.
