View Full Version : Hitman is coming to Blu-ray in an Unrated version

Yes, Hitman the movie based on the video game franchise. Shockingly enough, thanks to Timothy Olyphaunt (aka the villain guy in Live Free or Die Hard), some surprisingly skilled directing, a script which is true to the games but which also knows how to have a good time, and copious amount of blood, not only did the Hitman movie not suck, but it actually kicked ass in previously unimaginable ways.

On a videogame movie rating scale of 0 to 10, where 0 was House of the Dead or Alone in the Dark and 10 was Mortal Kombat, Hitman rates about a 12. Yes, it actually was pretty damned good. And violent. It was good and violent. :)

Anyways the Unrated version of the film (with even more blood!) is now slated for a March release. It will be another one of those Fox Digital Copy releases which includes an SD version of film which you can transfer to iTunes or whatever on your PC. I don't get the point of Digital Copy on Blu-ray releases because if you happen to have a drive which reads Blu-ray on your PC (as I do), then what use will the Digital Copy be to you in the first place, and if you don't, then you can't use the Digital Copy. The mind boggles at Fox sometimes.

Woot woot, can't wait. Im glad we get and unrated version. Maybe the DVD should be a rated version to sway DVD buyers to invest into HDM. :)

Blind buy for me... I love the games but never got around to seeing this in the theater... and I like Timothy Olyphant... but I still REALLY wish they either used Jason Statham, or David Bateson (the voice actor in the game, and who they based 47s looks around)... but it still looked good, definitely better than every other video game movie out there.

I'll blind buy this. I have to say this though, Fox can release Hitman unrated on Blu, but not Live free or Die Hard? They need to get their crap together and get the unrated Die Hard out now too. I am happy they are giving Blu the unrated version this time though.

Yep, this movie, Silent Hill, and the first MK are the most accurately adapated movies based on a game ever.

the digital copy would be a legal way of transferring the movie to portable devices. keep in mind you arent supposed to be ripping contents of the disc to your hard drive.

wondering if the unrated cut gives us more skin too as well as more blood. i missed this in the theaters so will be giving it at least a rental.

think so, for transfer to psp. this is supposedly going to be the new draw and would effectively kill off UMD.

I'm all for it. As long as the copy protection is essentially transparent for going from a Blu-ray Disc in a PS3 to moving the digital copy to the PSP, I think this is a great function that Sony has added.

If the genre can only STRIVE to be as good as MK, remind me to never go see a video game movie ever again.

I heard the unrated version of Live Free or Die Hard pretty much sucks anyways, they added some CGI blood and some swearing and that's it.

The unrated version of Die Hard 4 is certainly more in the spirit of the other 3 movies.

I rented the unrated DVD after I'd watched the first three movies on Blu-ray. It was definitely more in the spirit of the first three films than the censored cut I had seen in theaters. As far as I could tell, the blood was there originally in the squibs. They digitally removed it to get that PG-13 cut. Same with the swearing, they dubbed over it for the PG-13 version. Hell, they even dub over Yippee Ki Yay, Mother****er!

I'll buy Live Free or Die Hard on Blu-ray Disc the day they put out the "unrated" version.

Okay movie, one good action scene (fightscene with swords) and the chick is extremly hot. Movie is one I dont need to see again.

Anyone who seen it notice the footage they used from the TV show Dark angel? I found that make the movie seem really cheap all the stuff when we see Agent 47 as a kid being trained they used the footage from the Pilot of Dark angel

on IMDB they mention it too

" Many scenes from the opening are reused from the Pilot episode of Dark Angel. Geneva Locke (who played Young Max on the show) is seen extensivly "

Yeah, I noticed that immediately, and it's noted in the end credits. It did make me think, "cheap!"

Anybody who likes this movie is a nut.

I thought that something had to have gone wrong during production after seeing the film, which turned out to be far, far, FAR lower than my expectations. Supposedly, Fox decided to drop the budget from 70 to 20 million, and they cut out a huge number of scenes and changed the script quite drastically.

I thought this movie was often verging on being good. The interaction between Agent 47 and the woman was actually quite entertaining. There were a number of times when I thought things were really going to pickup for the better, but then some stupid and sloppy sequence like the swordfight occurred. Everything went to hell towards the end.

Family Guy Blue Harvest (Digital Copy) is around 500MB, and that is 47 minutes long

I actually thin the sword fight on the train was the best scene in the movie, besides the hot chick.

Instead of a digital copy, I wish they would just put a standard def dvd in with it as a second disc. That may be cost prohibitive and unrealistic though.

I'm just really happy that the implementation of the "digital copy" idea is dissimilar to the HD-DVD combo discs. I would have hated to have a Blu-ray disc with another disc (be it Digital Copy or SD-DVD) glued to the other side.

I was under the impression the Digital Copy would be on the BD as well. Not unless Fox suddenly is interested in getting into multi-disc BD releases or something. So far only Disney and Warner have released any multi-disc sets.

If they're going to be using separate discs, these titles may be sources for 2-disc cases, which can't be bought anywhere yet.

With Family Guy, how many times can you transfer the video to your pc? Is there a limit? Would they also limit it with The Hitman?

I wonder if it has something to do with the fact, that very few players actually decode DTS-MA. As far as I'm concerned, its a waste.

Wouldn't it have to be on a separate disc? Almost no one has a BD player in their computer. How would you get the digital copy off the disc with a standalone player?

I saw this movie last night because I paid only $1 to see it on my local military base theater :D in fact thats how I go to see most of the movies I watch in the theater nowadays.

The movie was at best decent IMO.Great action scenes with the gun battles and fight sequences. The plot and story werent to great though. Also the story was kind of confusing to follow at times even though the movie was short.

As far as buying this movie on BD.I'd myself have to wait until this movie is discounted down to $15 bucks or is apart of a BOGO sale.Especialy with the way how Fox likes to over price all of their BD releases.

I've yet to see a BluRay version of any movie include the digital version(w/the BluRay version of the movie).I've seen several deluxe dvd versions of movies(Die Hard 4,Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,Resident Evil:Extinction, etc.)come with digital versions of the movies, but until now that's been it.For the money, you'd figure digital versions would be included with BluRay/HD-DVD versions of any movie that included a downloadable version with the regular dvd editions, but unfortunately that's not the case.
