I'm pretty annoyed with Lair and the fact that you have these PSN games that make perfect use of the sixaxis but this stupid game has the clunkiest controls ever conceived, all for the purpose of using the sixaxis. gah!

Best: COD4, Resistance and Motorstorm

Worst: Marvel Alliance
I rented it and couldn't play it for more than 10 minutes. I was going to put Assassin's Creed but did not want to get flamed.

High Stakes Poker has gotten the most playtime by me, so I say it is one of the best of the year.. ;)

Unreal Tournament III is up there and will be even better once they get the mod cooking device to work. Uncharted is a great game, however Resistance: Fall of man recieves the top honors since it has delivered stable online play, upgrades, smooth game play that is fair online.. Ratchet and Clank would be in the top five for me as well... Motorstorm has great graphics, however the gameplay and online are buggy and get too repetitive.

Actually, with that stipulation then yes, Oblivion would have to be the choice.

Really am enjoying Folklore. And to the guys who though Oblivion and Marvel Alliance were worst choices go rent Fantastic 4 ughhhh!!!

Lair still the worst, though.

Even with the crappy port, the Orange Box has too much going for it.

Resistance - only stopped playing because I don't have time anymore,
Super Stardust HD (PSN) - best astroid busting game since astroids, I can finally give up on re-soldering my atari
Rock Band - I might be jumping the gun on this but I got it for christmas and due to a long vacation abroad have not had time to set it up but I'm sure I'm going to be suffering from guitar wrist or drummers foot pretty soon.


Worst: NCAA 08 - it's the game I've played the most since R:FOM, but its so far below what I was expecting
Oblivion - can't seem to justify spending time to play
Gauntlet (PSN) - maybe it's just me but they seem to have done a spotty job of porting this old gem, plus the co-op game ends when anyone quits

Ouch! It's a bit shallow gameplay-wise but overall I thought it was a great experience. I'd think the sheer quality of the story and acting alone would put it above the likes of Beowulf.That's just it, though. The acting was distractingly bad in Heavenly Sword. It was incredibly "stagey." It all looked, sounded, and felt like it was taking place in a sound studio instead of in a game. Compared to the voice and motion work done in Uncharted or Mass Effect, Heavenly Sword looks like Plan 9 from Outer Space.

And some of the "cinematic" storytelling methods were horribly ham-handed (interspersing a lame target-shooting sequence between the two halves of the fight with the snake lady, for example). This should be a stated rule in the Guide to Video Game Pacing: "never interrupt a boss fight." The momentum and tension get completely lost. The story was dull and badly paced. The cartoon teasers leading up to the game's release were much better than the game itself.

Just one more sign among many that you can't take movie methods (including using movie actors) and just plug them into a game. It almost never works (see Kane & Lynch).

And the voice acting, story, and motion capture are supposed to be the game's strongest points. Worse still, the gameplay was average (swordplay) to poor (overlong quick time events, dull target shooting sequences).

But, yeah, I'm probably about the only person who thinks this game is so bad. For me, Heavenly Sword was definitely a far worse disappointment than Lair could ever hope to be.

Worst: wow, so many, while HS may be one of the bigger disappointments, it is definately not one of the worst game by a longshot. How about the Conan game, that demo scared me from even considering it.

My girlfriend rented sonic yesterday... worst controls and camera angles ever. I watched her play it and thought it was her... then we played together and I at most played 30 minutes as well and wanted to chuck it haha

Worst: Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom, I pity anyone who bought this game as I did. It was horrible. It was a NES game with PS2 graphics. I've never played a game so bad in all my life. I hit one button the whole time. It was repetitive, had a stupid storyline, and just overall sucked. Everyone that has picked any other game as the worst game needs to go rent this game and change their answer. Seriously.

BEST: Rock Band, NBA 2K8, Super Puzzle Fighter II HD Turbo :D

Motorstorm would also have been cool if they had a "free range" mode. I wouldn't mind just driving around in the desert without having to worry about placing.

That does sound like a great idea. Just give us huge environments to enjoy. Imagine being able to route out your own custom paths in the huge mountain/desert landscapes and then race them against the CPU or your friends.
