Just started building my movie theater and have no idea what is the correct height for the screen to be placed at from the floor. I have a 90” screen with a 2.5” or so borader. Right now it is placed 70.5” at the top and 23.5 at the bottom off the floor. The room is not that big, 13 ft by 11 ft with a 13 ft ceiling on the side where the screen is and 8 ft on the back wall. It looks low but I do not know if it is the high ceiling. I do not have the project yet but will have it by mid Feb.

What do you guys think?

It's optimally based on your seating. Do you have tiered seating with multiple rows?

I am only going to have one row at 10 ft back and eye level at about 40" - 45".

I set mine according to the guideline that your eye should hit the bottom third of the screen, the other two thirds should be above eye level. THX states that you should have a 15 degree up viewing angle.

I prefer stadium style seating and looking straight on or slightly down at the screen so mine is mounted lower than many and everyone seems happy with it.

It really is an individual choice, where do you and your family prefer it to be. can you try a mock up that really works better then some formula in most cases.

I noticed screens closer to the ceiling looks totally cool maybe about 10"-15" down. But again, there's a guideline that you should follow. :)

Thanks for the help. I have tried a few different heights and am liking the eye level at the bottom third the best. Thanks again for the help.
