I am looking for a good reliable hard drive DVDR.

Here is a little background

The company I work for does mostly corporate shows with I-Mag. We record these show with either Beta SP or DVCAM but there are times when a client wants to walk away with a DVD in hand. So I need a unit that is first and foremost reliable, other features that would be nice include BNC (problem not going to happen) head phone jack and VU meter. This is really not a show stopper if it fails as I would never just use it to record so I would like to keep it under $1000.

Thanks
JT

Don't think any current consumer DVDR has BNC, headphone jack or VU meter.

The Philips DVDR3575H/37 might work OK for you tho? (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=940657)

I second that. I know when you think reliable, Philips might not be the first brand that comes to mind, but the 3575 really seems to work good.
None of the more traditional brand name mfgs. produce a HDD DVDR unit for the US market anymore. Canada has Panasonic/Pioneer etc., but I'm guessing you wouldn't want to screw around with that. So as far as HDD models made for the US market, I'd say the 3575 is your best bet. And most of the problems you might see in the threads are tuner related, which I'm guessing will not effect you in your use.
You just might have a hard time explaining to your boss, why you have to go to Walmart to buy your recorder.:D:D
