arghh I only meant to search for the relevant thread before posting. I didn't mean to start a new one.

I bought Caseblanca on one of the 3 for 2 sales on Amazon. I didn't watch it for a while, because I honestly wasn't sure I would like it. I knew the reputation, and had seen 2 minutes of the ending, which didn't warm me up to the idea.

I finally watched it, and what an incredible movie! The PQ was only adequate, and audio was either mono or stereo. But, I'll bet it looked better than in theatres of the time.

This is what high-def movies are all about. Forget transformers, get this! :)

i picked this up as a blind buy when i saw some one had it on ebay for $7 shipped. i figured how could i go wrong. now i see what everyone talks about when they say a classic movie. the story is moving and kept me enveloped from begining to end. i thought the pq was killer esp for a movie of its age

The transfer, I'm sure, is without any problems. It is faithful to the source, and dirt and scratches are cleaned up very well. That's all you can ask.

I just mean its not a Hot Fuzz -- not even a 2001 (which has been criticized for PQ, even though I thought it was great).

Casablanca is the best high def disc out there. No, there's no LFE or rear surrounds. However, it is the greatest high def movie available on any format until Gone with the Wind (soon), Citizen Kane or Lawrence of Arabia (soon) appears on high def optical.

Casablanca is a must-own HD DVD. Great classic movie and excellent picture quality.

At age 58, you can believe I've seen Casablanca about a zillion times.
I'll probably watch it about a zillion times more before I go.
Absolutely one of the greatest movies ever. Quality of the HD-DVD disc is outstanding.
I just wish they'd give us more of those old classics. Bogart, Cagney, etc.

Spelling the name correctly usually works better in the search engine. :) http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=817990&highlight=casablanca And there's some other threads too.
