Hi guys
I have a Optoma H79 pj, whenever I turn on the pj I get pictures the the pics included below. I am using a HTPC thru DVI connections but this happens no matter what source or what connection I use. Should I upgrade the firmware? Is there a firmware upgrade available at all?

I doubt it's the firmware if it was working perfectly with the existing revision
Could possibly be a color wheel timing problem or perhaps a video processing issue. You can access the CWI via the menu, but I doubt you'll be able to fix it if a controller is faulty and needs replacing. Whatever it is I think you may need to send it back to Optoma for a repair as it's unlikely to be something that can be fixed externally.
I take it the splash screen is like that even with no inputs connected?

no it happens only when there is a connection in it.

So the splash screen looks normal until you add a connection, and then it flares like in the pics? Is it all connections or a specific input?

I own a H-77 and it appears I have a similar problem. Two weeks ago, the picture would flicker after an hour of use. Currently, the "green flicker of the image" starts after 2-3 minutes of use. I tried HDMI, S-video, RBG, all the same. I searched the forums under h-77 and found similar problems in the past. I will call Optoma tech support tomorrow and keep you posted.

You could try a auto-calibration from the service menu. What you do is have a full white or full black IRE pattern from Avia going and hit the corresponding auto cal white or black. Do both white and black. I saw a problem just like yours on a H77 and fixed it with the auto-cals.
Also do not do the auto-cal color, ever. :)
good luck
C17 is the last firmware for the H7x series.

To use the auto-cal feature you need to send the PJ a component signal. The option will be under ADC.

Had the same issue with my H78DC3, it turned out that it was overheating due to the filter being clogged.
Another thing that may cause what you see is that you need to adjust the wheel speed in the ISF menu.
