Import fans take notice:

According to www.dvd-forum.at (http://www.dvd-forum.at) german indie label "Laser Paradise" will start supporting HD DVD in the near future.

Although notorious in the past for their "VHS2DVD" quality releases they do have some gems in their catalog:

Natural born killers DC
True Romance
Braindead (Peter Jackson)

In another forum (www.cinefacts.de (http://forum.cinefacts.de/showthread.php?t=185892)) owner Thomas Buersch mentions that the reason for going HD DVD and not Blu Ray were the very high costs for copy protection and Sony's overall negative stand on smaller companies joining the BDA.

He also indirectly announces "Natural born killers DC" to be among the first movies released.

All HD DVDs will come in "Steelbook"-cases.

I will gladly purchase all three of those titles as soon as they're available!

It looks like more imports are in my future. :)

The only DVD I have from them is their "Paradise Edition" of Dune, which is an absolutely horrible quality transfer and is censored to boot. The rights to the movie later passed to a company in Germany called Marketing Film that put out a much better release afterward.

I've not heard of them before, but this does show why HD is a better choice for smaller production houses.

Natural born killers that's Wb right? Do they have the rights to any newer WB titles?

No, they only own the rights for the Director's Cut of NBK.

They don't have the rights for True Romance anymore. EuroVideo obtained the rights a while ago.

However, I don't want to scare you off, but Laser Paradise releases often lacked the original language.

But, except for a minor error with the DTS track (DD was fine), the NBK DC DVD was very good, including English audio and subtitles, 3 discs with some extras.
