Hello everyone,

I am trying to figure out the best video application for a 15' by 10'7" conference room. We are trying to provide a viewable screen or screens for clients who come in to our office. We would like to be able to show them a variety of applications such as Word, Excel, Adobe, Lacerte (tax program) on this or these screens. I'm sure we could either use a multiple monitor configuration such as a couple Vizio 32" TV's that would connect to a dedicated, networked computer. Or we could hang a projector from the ceiling and use a screen large enough that multiple computer applications could be sized in multiple windows on the screen.

If there is any further information I can provide in order to help figure out the best solution, I can provide it. I appreciate all information I have received from this forum in the past and look forward to your responses.

Thanks!

Resolution of business projectors is usually 800 x 600 or maybe 1024x768. Won't get many usable applications windowed at that resolution.
And you'd want a business projector, unless you don't mind your clients sitting in the dark.

For this application, I think 32" monitors would serve you much better.

It really depends on how much money you want to spend. There are definitely HD resolution projectors that would be fine for your purpose. That is not a very big room.

Given the size of the room and the intent for the display, you would probably get better use from a special pc hooked up to multiple LCD screens, and maybe a big 50" LCD.

The 32" TV's are at a 1366x768 resolution. Since it's a TV is it going to be better than the projector due to the fact that you have to have a dark room like you mention? And is that also a more favorable resolution?

Thanks!

No it's not a very big room. The thought with the projector application would be the ability to increase the size of the screen if we expanded the room, and also if we could make it detachable to take with us to other places to use it. If the room has to be completely dark to make the projector look good then it might not work very well.

Multiple LCD screens and a 50" LCD? Or are you saying either or? Two 32" LCD's would give us 64" of total screen space over two TV's. I think the largest that LCD's go to is somewhere in the 40-50 range right?

Personally, I would get an Epson Powerlite 720. 1280 by 720 resolution and plenty bright for a room that size as long as you don't have too many lights on. If you needed an even a brighter projector, the Optoma HD71, Benq 830/31 would be good 720p options.

Put the 50" in the most likely spot where the bulk of the room can see it and you could also put a couple of 32" screens up around it to put alternative demos on while the main screen showed the primary presentation.

Sharp has a couple 65" LCDs.

I'm not discounting a PJ but in the confines of the room you describe, it would be simpler to hang a big panel.
