I've had this projector for just over 5 years now (my warranty expired 1 week ago). Everything was working fine last time I used it about 1 month ago. I turned it on last night and I get the picture just fine except I get what appear to be dead pixels on the screen. Lines going across, angle and up and down on the left side of the screen. I called the store where I bought it from and the warranty expired last week.
I'll try to take a picture and post it tonight.
ANy of you know what could possibly be wrong? Don't think its bulb since I get the picture just fine and still bright. The projector is mounted on my cealing not close to anything. Noody touched it or messed with it since last time I used it.
Any ideas, help will be appreciated.
Thanks!!!

You might want to do some research. Start with checking out hs10.com forum board.

Oliver,
I've recently had the same thing with my projector. It sounds like the "prism Block" issue. Search these forums for that and you will get your answer.

My experience: I opened a call with Sony, shipped it to the repair center in Laredo (my own cost $105) and had a quote for $2300 to repair (more than my purchase price). I escalated all the way up, and no one at Sony did anything for me.. One of the poorest customer service experiences I've ever had

YMMV
I wish better things for you..

So this is how the problem looks like. By looking from real close you can see that those pixels are pink in color. The picture projected is fine except for those "dead" pixels. Any idea what the problem could be?

How many hours of service is currently on your PJ? From my understanding, I've got the HS20, 5 years of service is a pretty good life span for an LCD PJ. While you may not currently agree, you probably got your money's worth. LCD panels degrade over time. It's inevitable.

I had under 1000 total hours on my HS10. I understand about the LCD panels, but this is the "prism block", a main and apparently expensive component. The way it was explained to me by Sony Laredo.. had little to do with the LCD panels

Money's worth... I think not. You're entitled to your own opinions.

Clearly at 1000 hours after five years, you didn't get your money's worth. I was remembering a similar thread with another Sony owner who was disappointed with his unit, despite having put over 5000 hours on it.

I wasn't aware of the hours on the unit, just the lenght of ownership. I've had my HS20 for 3.5 years and is now being relegated to the bedroom. It has but 1600 hours on it. Did a great job, but it's been replaced by a VW60 as of today!

Hope you get some resolution with your faulty unit.
