Does anyone in addition to me feel cheated by the art work of the Paramount titles (like Face Off and Top Gun)? I mean the artwork for Top Gun looks horrible like it was printed on a ink jet printer running out of ink. And the artwork for Face Off is pretty blah too. The shrink wrap on the cases feels cheap too. Just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same way with recent Paramount HD DVDs. Thanks!

Top gun and face off were recent?

All mine look great. (transformers, shrek 3, stardust)

Yep. That's why this thread was created: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=765165

Some outstanding talent there. Most covers posted there beat the original ones any day. Paramount or any other studio.

I hadn't noticed that, but I did notice that the Universal covers printed on thicker stock than most others. The Paramount Covers don't seem any cheaper than the rest to me, but Nacho Libre is the only Paramount HD DVD (I have 12) that I have switched cases on. I'll check some of my other Paramount catalogs when I get home in the morning.

If the cases and artwork are a serious beating for you you can always buy new cases from Sleeve City:

Linkage (http://www.sleevetown.com/blu-ray-hd-dvd-case.shtml)
1 case for 75 cents, 10 for $6.50 or 50 for $28. These are the standard Universal (side-snap) HD DVD cases. FWIW I purchased 10 from Sleeve City a few months back and had no problems.

On the Artwork Front look no further than the Custom Cover Thread (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=765165) of this very forum. There you will find Custom Cover art for the very tiles you have mentioned.

I've noticed that problem with SD-DVDs lately. Both with the cover inserts and the cases, particularly Amarays. The paper that they print the artwork on now is extremely cheap and thin; the clear transparent plastic sleeve on the outside of the cases is now very thin as well. I've had several DVD cases/artwork ruined just riding in the car back from the store because the slightest amount of pressure on the back of the cases in the unsupported sections around the disc holder causes punctures. I guess the studios wanted to save 1/2 a cent per unit

Yeah I think I have a few Blu Ray titles too that have very thin transparent plastic sleeves but the cover art thickness has always been decent. I don't know I just observed this about the recent catalog Paramount releases that the cover art was not up to at least my standards. Well I have not popped in Face Off the disc yet so hopefully the quality of the movie is much better than the cover art...LOL

thanks for sharing all your comments...I appreciate it!

Universal cases are pretty good. Paramount casing sucks.

I've only noticed this with my copy of Black Rain, the paper seemed very cheap. The only other Paramount catalog title I have (besides the Mission Impossibles from the box set) is Hustle and Flow and the printing doesn't seem cheap on that one.

Never even mind the fact that the artwork is bad, how about the fact that they can't get their f*cking covers cut straight? This is a Paramount U.S. phenomenon only and goes back to when the Indy dvd set came out, but the friggin' covers AREN'T STRAIGHT!!
