Here's my deal. I have a Definitive PS800 sub (downfiring), and I have a hard wood floor. Well when I play a movie or a videogame, the subs starts jumping across the floor because of the vibration. I'll be watching a movie, and I'll look down and see that my sub has danced half-way across the room! Someone mentioned trying little rubber feet (little rubber button-like stickers that you stick to the bottom of each leg. That "somewhat" helped for awhile, and then they eventually just came off. I tried putting a puffy towel underneath it, and it still flew across the floor like a magic carpet. I'm about ready to nail this damn thing down to the floor :D! Seriously, I'm at a complete loss. I looked over every thread and didn't find anything on this subject, and I know I can't be the only one with this problem. Help!

PS: When the sub rumbles, it also has a tendency to run up the walls as well (it doesn't knock anything over, it just causes irritating shaking). Do you think a front firing sub would help alleviate that too?

Thanks in advance!

You may be running the sub a little hot.

My HSU HO used to move away from the wall in the corner and every so often I would move it back. What I did was put a small rubber backed throw rug under it and it has not moved since.

Get a thick rug or a subdude. It will also sound better.

Sounds to me like the total weight of the sub is not sufficient to hold it down from the inertia of the driver moving up and down. This is causing the sub to hop. To check this, try putting some weight on top. This is just temporary, so don't worry that it may be ugly. A bag of sand will work good. Then run your sub and see if it stays put.

How about Velcro tape. Search Amazon with 3/4x15 Black Velcro Tape its about $13

Might be running the sub to hot as jhixson mentioned.

You should put another sub on top of it to weigh it down. Definately.

I think the OP has lost his way. He hasn't been back since he started this thread.

Your sub might be turned up too much, however i had similar problems with my Revel B15 sub sitting on a tile/marble floors.

What i have done is build a platform out of 24" x 24", 3/4" plywood. My Subs have spiked feet so the weight of the subs causes the spikes to in-bed into the wood, therefore preventing the subs from moving and vibrating. This I can only imagine would help Bass output as the energy would be directed out of the woofer and not lost to a vibrating cabinet on the floor. I did not do an AB test so I can't verify sonic improvements.

Home Depot sells 24" x 24" or a 48" x 24" ply pre cut in the lumber department. I added carpet rug mat to the bottom of the ply with spray glue so as to prevent it from moving on the tile floor and to isolate it from the floor. I also added the felt part of a Velcro roll to two edges of the ply for the edges that face the the corners of room to avoid the ply vibrating against the baseboards. Turned out that the felt wasn't necessary as i was able to keep it off the baseboards by 1/4". I finished off the ply with a stain.

This week i added a second B15 sub and so i am building a new 48" x 24" platform to accommodate the two subs. See below pictures.

I think he's too busy chasing after his runaway sub! ( I just love this kind of threads!)

Lol that's scary Ian, because I was going to say that until I scrolled down and saw you said the same thing. We think way too alike...
