From what others are saying, if you go to your local CC and the players are not marked as clearance, they will ring up as clearance regardless.

Can you blame them? Either the mrechandise never gets sold or people are just going to be returning those HD DVD players.

As I said before, they also have equipment shelving on clearance, but I somehow doubt this signals the end of laminated particle board furniture.
