Looking for a 1080p RP TV in the 57" to 63" range that provides a good (as good as it can get) SD picture. My friend uses D* as his source, which may not be the best, but it is what it is.

I am more knowledgable on LCD/Plasma and projectors and looking or guidance.

I figure I can tweak most to have a reasonably good HD picture, though HDTV performance is important.

suggestions would be helpful and the reasons why are appreciated.

LCoS does a good job with SD because of a softer pixel boundary. In your size range with 1080p that means a Sony 60A3000 (A2020 if you're in Canada) or a 61 inch F-series JVC D-ILA.
