I'm not sure if this is the right place to post but it didn't seem to fit anywhere else. I tried searching but didn't see anything. I'm always seeing Bl-ray is out selling HDDVD or vice versa and people are always seeming to quote info from other sources so I thought I would take a poll of AVS members to see what players they own.

I own both.

I started on HD DVD for the lower priced players, then made my way to Blu-ray simply for the BOGO and a couple must have titles.. I'm glad I did but HD DVD will always be my first love haha

I think there are more and more people with more than one or even both formats. After yesterday, I have one Blu-ray and two HD DVD players. So, I selected the closest one -- "one of each."

I bought HD DVD first and followed it up with a PS3 via the big discount SonyStyle deal for the same reason saginawjuggalo did.

Have an HD-A1 from a month or so after the HD DVD launch, and a Playstation 3 from launch week.

I leaned towards BD in the very beginning because of the better specs... then I actually used & owned both... and have leaned towards HD ever since.

Will likely buy a BD stand-alone once 2.0 players are available, and will likely pick up an HD-A35 soon as well. (Unless a really great dual-format player / dual-format HTPC solution becomes available.)

With the 360 and PS3. Sony keeps improving the PS3 to make me question why I would ever want anything other than the PS3 for Blu-ray.

Always wanted a better HDDVD player but haven't yet managed to get an XA1 on evil bay for $50 or less. Yet.

HD A1 since 9/06 once I can find a reasonable BR player I jump into one, and by reasonable I mean the right price, and the right features.

Oops, I picked "dual format", when I meant "format neutral". The closest option is "one of each" but since I own more than two players total, that one was not correct either. None of my players is a dual-format (in one box) machine.

I picked up an HD-A35 this month, and I have to say I'm impressed. I had my doubts about either side but the price drops sealed the deal. I'll probably get a BD player when the new 2.0 profile models are released. I also require internal audio decoding so I don't have to buy a new A/V receiver. I have no complaints about my A35. Neither do my friends. :D

I have an A2 from the $98 sale at Walmart.
I just picked up a PS3 2 weeks ago. Gamestop had a deal where you could trade in your old PS2 and get $50 off the PS3. My PS2 was sitting on the shelf packed up ready to go on eBay. I thought this was a good way to get a $350 PS3 rather than deal with eBay.:p

Currently I have the Toshiba XA2 and both the Panasonic BD10 and BD30. I love those Panasonics. :)

I own 4 Toshiba HD-DVD players.
They are the XA1,A2,A3,XA2.
XA2 was just added, waiting for it to come in as we speak.:D
Torn about going purple.
I'm RED through and through, but the kids do enjoy their Disney,so if player prices drop down to $250 or so,I may go Purple.
I can allways blame it on the kids;)

Nice set of Toshibas you have there. Go neutral, at least then you can get all the content.

Am I missing something, but isn't "dual format" and "one of each" the same thing? In essence you are neutral correct?

I think he was meaning dual-format players specifically, Samsung, LG etc.

Not sure why it is important to seperate those out of own both though.

I am a HD DVD owner.

Maybe a ways down the road when I can get a decent Finalized BD player for the same cost as my Add-on drive was, then I might go purple.

PS3 (blu-ray). I might buy one of the Toshibas as a second DVD player (no intention of buying HD-DVD media, though).

PS3, had assumed that I would buy a DF player one day, but it no longer seems inevitable.

Interesting. Previous polls like this have always shown that there are far more HD-DVD owners on AVS than Blu-ray ones. Seems like the tide is even changing here!

I've got an A3, was going to eventually upgrade to a Dual Format, but not sure now. Waiting for a 2.0 Blu-Ray player for sub $200.00. I'm sure I'll be waiting a while.

Have the A1 and recently the A35 when prices came down. I'm not even considering a BD player after reading about the profile issue.

I own both:

RCA HDV5000 HDDVD player w/ toshiba firmware
Sony PS3 80GB

I went with HDDVD initially because of price ($500 vs $1000 at the time) and recently added a PS3 for blu-ray/games. I don't notice any major differences between the two, however the menu systems are generally better on HDDVD and there are fewer/no previews on HDDVD.

I've got TWO of each. So I can watch any title in either system. (I'm a heavy Netflix user.)

I went HD DVD first with the Toshiba A-20, because of price and I love it. Plays every high def and sd disc with no problems.

I also have the Panny BD30, after first purchasing the Samsung 1400. The 1400 was not bad other than being slow, but glad I took it back and got the Panny.

I might be in the minority but I love having 2 formats, because we as consumers are the ones who win. Competition is good. With the price of the A35 coming down I am thinking of getting one, but my A20 has been so good I hate to mess with good Karma.

HD DVD 20 movies
Blue Ray 10 movies

I own the PS3 and the A2. I don't think I will own the A2 much longer. I have already sold more then half of my HD DVDs and as soon as the rest go then so will the player.

Toshiba A30 Since Dec, Price and Upconverter function were deciding factors (Was looking at Oppo before).
LG Combo Drive for PC Since Jan.
Will not buy standalone BD player until I can get a solid 2.0 profile player (Assuming 2.0 is final spec) for <250$. (With HD File Support from BDR/E disks).

Thanks Craig,I'm just waiting for the Blu ray player prices to drop down to $250 or so,then I plan on going format neutral.;)
I'm torn between a Panny or the PS3.
I just wish the lower priced PS3 had BC.
The rumors of a possible price drop to $299 true or not has me sitting up and taking notice.

PS3 from Nov '06 and Xbox 360 add-on from the day the $40 off deal at Circuit City first appeared. I figured I'd dip my toes in the water and wait until the format war was over to pick up a standalone. Imagine my surprised at how solid the PS3 turned out to be for DVD and Blu-ray!
