Im on my way to pick one up but I dont have a truck. can I lay it down in the back and it still work?

I laid mine PANEL FACE UP to bring it home, as i've done many other tv's.... no ill effects

Correct. If you are getting it delivered its insured so that decreases the chances and if it does happen you are not at fault. Unless you drop it while carrying it :)

Lying it horizontal (gently) won't hurt it....a weight transfer to the middle of the glass expanse will however. What I'm trying to say is that if you do have to lay it down....take it slow and avoid potholes/speed bumps or anything less smooth than a pool table.;)

The stand pack that came with my Kuro had instructions to lie the plasma flat down on a table to attach it. I know this isn't transporting, but I had always heard it wasn't good to lie them down yet this instruction manual from pioneer doesn't say its not bad, just be careful
