When I picked up my 1st ever system about 7 years ago I got me some Bostons and well went a little nuts on the sub..Velodyne cht-15. I think it was slight over kill but it does cause foundation cracks in the neighborhood. Now my main question if im getting new speakers is this a sub I can keep and using until it basically dies? Is there any benefit with the newer subs out? 15 inches what was I thinking.....AKA the hernia maker...

Seems to me that if you're happy with the sub in your old system/room, you'll like it in the new. However, depending on what you buy, the crossover might be someplace different. But the bottom should remain exactly the same, unless I'm missing something here.
Of course, if you're asking THIS crowd, I'm guessing you're itching for an upgrade...?
Speaker upgrade but if the sub is still good then no worries. I did not have the knoweldge of this place when I purchased it. I mean its a Velodyne and its a beast. What could I be missing by keeping it?

Some of the terrific new subs out there may be able to ultimately spank your Veleodyne, but that does not mean that it is inadequate for your needs. It's a matter of how deep do you want to go and at what levels. I always advise anyone who already has a good sub to make sure their system is optimized before deciding an upgrade is necessary.

Still a good sub. Music preferred stay with it and save. Ht get another. But it's still good for ht depending on room size. If it cracks the foundation then it's probably good enough
I have the thing at like 4-5 and it gets crazy loud....i`m scared if I turn it up any louder I might pee a little if there is a big explosion..
