I just purchased the A30 to take advantage of 24fps on DVD and HD Movies, but I'm a bit confused about the fps for television programs. I thought they were supposed to be displayed at 30 or 60fps, the way they were shot. My A30 and lcd both display 24fps when watching Seinfeld(DVD) or Star Trek:S1(HD DVD).

Am I wrong about the way it should be, or is my player forcing me to watch a reduced framerate?

Those TV series in particular were shot with film. 24fps is the standard film speed.

Most shows shot on film though, in the pre-HD, post-computer era, were transferred to video tape for editing, and would play back at 60 interlaced (on SD).

Seinfeld, for DVD, was re-edited in HD from the original film elements.
