View Full Version : Repair shop can't fix it.
mr67man 01-28-08, 11:00 AM I know this is a horrible first post but...I purchased a JVC HD56G657 last September, and the unit has been in the repair shop since November 30. Since then the shop has replaced everything in the unit including the light engine twice. Since they can't get it working, and I'm beginning to not want another JVC will they buy back the TV. Have you guys ever ran into this before? Do they even do buy backs on bad units? What kind of experiences have you guys ran into with this?
TheSurgica1 01-28-08, 11:05 AM Did you get the extended warranty? Or is it still under the manufacture warranty?
mr67man 01-28-08, 11:06 AM Still under manufacturers warranty...
TheSurgica1 01-28-08, 11:12 AM I don't see why they don't either replace it or give you something new because they cant fix it. I would call and give them hell for not having your tv fixed.
davegow 01-28-08, 11:40 AM Your repair shop must be clueless. You should have either received a satisfactory repair or a new set long before now. These are good sets and there's no reason to distrust a replacement. My G-series is good as new after 10,000 hours.
One problem may be that a new replacement may be getting hard to find. In that case you should be given a credit equal to the purchase price on an F-series which are still being sold.
mr67man 01-28-08, 11:47 AM Thats good to hear. The repair shop has been great with me and staying in touch with JVC. The JVC technician dealing with the repair shop is clueless as to whats causing the problems. I'm to the point of just wanting a working tv in time for the Super Bowl. Know what I mean!
davegow 01-28-08, 02:31 PM JVC is undergoing major reorganization right now, so that may explain this and other strange things going on with the company. A conscientious company that has its act together would want this set back to find out what's happening, and send you a brand new one. But instead we get these kinds of stories.
If you think the repair shop is not the problem I'd be dealing up the chain, and not be shy about it. Not rude either, just stand up for your rights. You spent serious bucks, you have the right to a working TV.

mr67man 01-30-08, 04:43 PM Well as of yesterday they refuse to allow me to talk to anyone that can offer a resolution. I sent off a well worded letter to David Kline - General Manager of US Corporate Headquarters explaining the situation and my expectations for a resolution. I'll update this thread as new information comes around. Also, I found out yesterday the service center replaced the light engine causing the set to not power up. I think JVC should take this one in for testing.
Jordan420 01-30-08, 08:17 PM Well as of yesterday they refuse to allow me to talk to anyone that can offer a resolution.
Who refuses to allow you talk to anyone?
What has the dealer you bought it from said about this?
You need to contact you Credit card, explain you situation, & dispute the charges.
davegow 01-30-08, 09:51 PM ...I found out yesterday the service center replaced the light engine causing the set to not power up. ...
Hmmm...I just have a gut feeling that the service shop is screwing up, and trying to blame the company.
mr67man 01-31-08, 03:12 PM Well it looks like the email worked, although I didn't get a reply back. I did receive a call today saying I will get an exchange on the tv with a hd56g787. Its an upgrade, so I guess this is a good thing. Davegow.. yeah I'm pretty sure the service shop was screwing up... Jordan420... the people answering the 800 number said they had no direct line to the higher ups.... all they could do was leave messages in the file... hopefully this set won't be a brick...
mr67man 02-16-08, 10:32 AM Well... the 787 is a brick... after one week of operation the set can't complete powerup. I'm loosing my mind over this, and no one will be at JVC till Tuesday.
