Hi guys,

Can anyone offer me any tips. I am having some trouble when i first enter the television station, and go into the office part. Enemy soldiers come from all directions, and no matter which way i go i seem to die because i get bombarded with a million grenades and that causes me to have to run out into enemy fire. Tried this like 50 times. Im playing on veteran difficulty. Any hints or tips on this part (like where i have to go to get the next checkpoint) would be awesome.

I assume you're referring to Charlie Don't Surf and the main tv control room.

You CP right as you enter the door to the main control room. Immediately turn right and sprint straight down to the end of the room where there is a small side room that leads nowhere.

Hide out in the room for a little while. You may have to chuck back a grenade or two.

Friendly AI will filter through the room because you advanced and take out almost all of the hostiles. You will only have 3 or 4 baddies to take down to clear the room and get the next CP.

Good luck.

Also, to get the Your Show Sucks ach, you need to take out all CRT's, not just the ones showing the speech.

Go to Next Gen Walkthroughs website - this will show you in video how to get past that part. It was tricky for me but I finally got it. That isn't the hardest part of Veteran though. You have a lot ahead of you. :)

nope

Just smashing the ones with the video loop didn't get the achievement for me. Of course my bastard AI teammate killed the feed before I could get to the last one in the control room because one of the other bastard AI teammates was standing in the damn door and wouldn't move his ass. I gotta play through that whole level again.....

i went through shooting only the tv's with the broadcast, didnt get it, so i went through again shooting every tv, still didnt get it, then i read online that the one i missed was probably when you first enter the room on the right side of the broadcast complex (its behind your head and above you), and that was what i missed every time, so i destroyed it, along with all the others with the broadcast displayed (but not all of the tv's) and got the achieve.

Hastley, are you talking about the main room with all of the TV's?

I went straight threw the door and spirited to the offices directly in front of you. Throw a flash right when you enter the room. You must use your grenades/flash grenades, and you must keep moving. I remember moving and crouching between the 2-3 interlocking offices. Don’t forget, you can shoot through windows and thin walls. Slowly make your way around the room staying on the outer edge, counterclockwise.

Definitely check out the walkthroughs and videos on-line/You Tube. They will help.

As others have said, this is not the most difficult part (unfortunately). So much more “fun” awaits you later on. :)

Also, I didn’t worry about some of the achievements while playing through on Veteran. After you finish, I recommend replaying the game on easy and going back to collect the achievements you missed.

Thanks for the help guys.

One quick question:

When you all say its not the most dificult part, is it atleast one of the top 5 more difficult parts?

Thanks

Yeah, it's definitely in the top five. Took me forever to pass this part on Veteran. Much longer in fact than most of the other notorious "trouble" spots later in the game.

And as far as strategies go, I finally beat it by sprinting to the offices directly in front of you, putting a grenade through the window when you're halfway towards them. However, instead of going directly into the offices, I went prone right at the office corner, to the left of the office door and facing the far side of the room that you will eventually exit from. That allowed me to nail anybody running out of the offices right in front of me and also to get guys spawning from the exit point. After picking guys off for a few minutes from that position, I moved up using the offices as cover and ran straight to the exit area. If you stay there, that will force your guys to advance and pick off the majority of the remaining bad dudes. You may have to deal with one or two guys coming straight for you in that area though, so stay frosty.

Lol, I hate saying this, but the TV room was actually a piece of cake compared so several of the other chapters. The TV room is actually quite hard if you stand and fight, but the real trick is getting to the spot where the next checkpoint will be (the best option is to play on easy 1st). Kiddy corner to where you enter the room is the exit corridor. If you make it there and crouch down, your teammates will kill everything and join you (they will not die). Once they kill everyone, you can go back and shoot all the monitors.

The key is to shoot the two guys on the second floors ASAP as they fire missles. Then go to the right of the room (there is a small room there to rest up, though grenades can enter there). The hardest part is getting to the checkpoint corridor as there will be 4-5 guys in you way. Grendaes and flashbangs work great, because even you do not kill them with the grenades, they will be stunned and then you can shoot them. Good luck.

I agree, this part is actually cake compared to some other parts in the game. IMO nothing even comes close though to Mile High and No Fighting In War Room on veteran.

Anyways, I agree with lynesjc....Immediately turn right when you enter and sprint into the small room at the end. I got past this part in about 3 tries using that strategy, after trying about 40 times going through the offices.

The key to this is to just sit in the server room before walking into the TV room and wait it out. Every once in a while try to pick someone off from within the room.

You'll have a MUCH harder time on "Mile High", "One Shot, One Kill", and when you are down in the tunnels for the last mission, especially in the rocket chambers.

I agree with you, but I don't really consider it part of the game, proper.

Same with the time trial achievement.

That room is one of the parts in the game where enemies will continue to respawn if you do not trudge forward.
Stay along the perimeter of the room (head right after entering, and duck into the closets and empty offices on that wall to find cover and get your health back. Just keep an eye out for frag grenades that get lobbed into those small rooms. You usually have enough time to throw them back.
If you think of the room as a square, you want to exit in the opposite corner from where you entered. Once you're in that Hallway, you can hang out there (behind all of the enemies) while your squad cleans house. They will show up to breach the next door when they finish clearing the room.
The rest of Charlie Don't Surf is easy....

I went back and did the time trial achievement after I spent 3 hours finally beating Mile High on veteran. The time trial was cake afterwards!

As embarrasing as this may be, i allowed my GF to play the game, and she seems to be able to beat all of the challenging missions on veteran!

How's that embarrassing?

I think it's pretty awesome.
