Hi, I'm just about to pull the trigger on a Pioneer Elite 60" Kuro Plasma. I guess what I'm looking for is reassurance that I'm making the right decision since it is going to be a large expenditure. I was wondering when the current Kuro came out and whether they were going to have any newer versions coming out any time soon. I was also considering an LCD like the Samsung 81 or 71 series but going by the reviews in magazines and here, the Kuro seems to be the top of the line as far as flat panels go. Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.

If you have doubts or hesitations, then wait. It's not like they're going to go away or anything. In fact, they're just going to get cheaper and better over time.

If your concern is for value, rest assured that:

- Plasma > LCD, in my opinion. I know some people will come out and argue this endlessly but it's hard to deny that the lack of any ghosting at all and the deeper blacks of a good plasma don't make watching movies better.

- Pioneer Kuro > all other Plasma's. I have a Panny 1080p Plasma and as such, the only TV I ever see that makes me wish I had something 'better' are the Kuros.

You're making a good choice and you'll really really enjoy everything you watch on the Kuro.

Does anybody know when the current Elite Kuros came out and\or when the newer models will be available?

All of your fears/doubts will melt away after you get that monster installed and fire it up for the first time.:cool: If you get a good deal on the 60" Elite then go for it....rest assured that the new 08 models will have an even higher pricetag and won't be discounted for a while.

After seeing those 9G's I couldn't purchase another HDTV lol. Anyone know if they are coming out in 08?those weren't the 9gs, those were the extreme contrast concept (ECC). They will be coming out in 09 (based on d-nices subtle hints). The 9gs WILL come out in 2008, and they will have 80% deeper blacks than the 8gs... D-nice said they incorporated some elements of the ECC, but not all of them. Ill find the thread in a minute.:D
