Or at least reseat it at both ends then turn on both equipment. At least try a different res first. furgs 02-01-08, 07:57 PM Looks more like moire. Or banding. That worked jra166 02-15-08, 10:00 PM I wanted to follow up on this thread, I have a 42 inch Panasonic Plasma, can display only 720p, but can accept up to 1080p. I spent over an hour tonight moving wires, replacing wires, and could not get rid of the lines. It was showing up on nearly all of my paramount titles. Top Gun, Italian Job, Tomb Raider. Finally I came back re-read this thread, and I checked my resolution. I had it set for up to 1080P, I changed it to 720P and the lines disappeared. What makes this really wierd is that it only occured on Paramount titles, I don't get it. Maybe I should just try to call in the warranty on my TV, after all it does seem to be a TV problem, more so than the HD-DVD player. Naiera 03-23-08, 09:04 PM I have a Panasonic TH-42PX60 and an HD-EP30. I've experienced these lines on Hot Rod and Mission Impossible as of yet. I noticed that both are from Paramount. If the lines disappear by changing resolution, I'm guessing it's a matter of detail being lost (more instances of scaling), because if I tilt my head to the side, the lines become virtually unnoticable. I've watched a good handfuld of HD DVD releases since I watched Hot Rod, and I haven't noticed any vertical lines on any of them. And yes, I've made sure to check. I've watched Mission Impossible II fairly recently, but I believe that was back when I still had the HD-E1. I'll have to check MI:II again. Naiera 03-23-08, 10:03 PM Checked MI:II and they were there of course. A thing to note though is that they're not there right from the beginning; there's NOTHING to see on the mountain climbing scene. It doesn't seem to show up until the car chase. I remember it being similar in Hot Rod, where I didn't notice anything until a while into the movie. This is way too random to be something that's happening in the tv, the player, the cable or even the (Marantz) receiver; it's always there in the same pattern and in the same spots. I have MI:III on Blu-ray and there's nothing on that one. Nothing on Sahara or Shooter, which are the only other Paramount HD DVD's I could find looking through the collection quickly. There are plenty of scenes in those movies where the lines would be very easily noticable. Initially when noticing the problem on Hot Rod (and now I can't remember when I got Hot Rod; I believe it was before I got the HD-EP30, so it was there on the HD-E1 as well) I checked a couple of other movies, including Hot Fuzz, and there was nothing there either, of course. |
