I have a Sony WEGA 50" LCD, Model: KDF50we655

My cable got turned off, so I wanted to just watch the regular channels, I think technically they're the analog channels (you know, the free channels you get like ABC, NBC etc..). I have an old TV in my bedroom and it has an antenna on it and it gets those channels. My 50"LCD SONY is huge and I don't see an antenna on it anywhere, Do i need an antenna to get those channels?

If I do need an antenna, what kind? Where can I get one? Any additional info or help is sooooo much appreciated.

if the indoor antenna on your bedroom TV is receiving a decent signal, than you will need an antenna to hook to the VHF/UHF threaded input on the back of your TV. The specs for your set say it has an ATSC "over the air" tuner, so it should work with an antenna. With an antenna connected you will need to scan for the over the air channels. Without your zip code, this will be a guess, but based on the fact your bedroom TV works with an indoor antenna, a simple indoor VHF/UHF antenna should work

Try this first, keep the packaging and take it back if it does not do the job

Oh thank you so much. I need a quick.....I mean cheap fix for LOST season premier tonight and the SuperBowl Sunday. You are a savior, I hope your day is better knowing you made someone elses. I will stop by radio shack after work and pick up a cheap antenna like you posted. Thanks again for your response.

Oh....1 more thing. Is it easy installation? Where do I plug it in to the TV? Is there a slot or something? Thanks again.

The antenna itself will sit on a shelf or any other place close enough to the TV for the cable to run to. Then hook up the cable coming from the antenna into the threaded port on the back of the TV. If your TV has more than one, make sure it says ANT (or something close to that). Then you'll have to switch the TV to the ANT input, go into the menu and do a channel scan.

If you don't get all the channels you want, you'll have to play with the placement of the antenna. Usually the higher up the better.
