Hello I obtained a Samsung HLP5063WX/XAA last week. I hooked it up to my Motorola cablebox DCT6412/2305 via the HDMI cable. I've never seen or heard anything so amazing in my life....Well I disconnected everything yesterday in order to put it on a new stand. Once it was all hooked up again the picture came on for about two seconds, went red and then went black. Everytime I unplug the cable and replug the cable the HDMI picture only comes on for a couple seconds before turning off again. What the heck could have changed that its not working now? The monster HDMI cable is a week old. Could it be bad? Yes I've reset the cable box as far as unplugging and contacting the cable company to zap it. As far as the cable working from another source everything is fine but who wants to look at that crap....I want my HDMI picture and sound back.:p Thanks

Its time to do the HDMI Shuffle.

Uplug this first, then try that, then stand on one foot while you unplug the box, then close your eyes while you plug in the tv.

Seriously though, do a search here on hdmi issues. You'll see more issues than patriots have super bowls :)

Its unlikely that the cable is bad. In fact feel free to return it, and buy a cheaper one from monoprice.
Also try this. Plug in the cable box, turn it on. then plug the hdmi into the tv. turn the tv on.

If nothing, keep tv on, turn box off. Then try to view the cable box menu by having the box off, and tv on, then hit the menu button on the box itself. If nothing shows up on the tv, you can try to change the setting by watching the box itself..It's also known as the hidden menu. You can search that here too for more detailed info.

I did the hdmi shuffle and said f-it. Components give me a fine picture and not headaches.

Good luck

Well I have the cable company coming out since Samsung Tech seems to think its a problem with the cable box. We will see but I don't feel very positive right now. But then again it is friday.:p

I'd bet that they try to bypass the hdmi and hook it up with component cables.

Either way, good luck.

I think I have been misunderstanding peoples advise the whole time I've been doing research. Today at lunch I was thinking that I guess the cable box also has a RCA video out as well. Between the RCA sound and video I could see how people might say there is no difference in picture and sound. I will experiment when I get home.

sure if you have the component cables try that. It's 3 cables, a red, a green and blue.

The red and white cables carry the sound.

Don't use any yellow cables..they can't do HD.

Thanks for the help but it did turn out to be the cable box. Everything is wonderful here in Perfectville.:p
