What do you think? 4g vtec 02-01-08, 11:53 AM i think it was wayyyyyyyyyyy better than Turok Broccoli 02-01-08, 12:50 PM I played the PS3 demo and the game is pretty bad, don't waste your time downloading it Srdjan 02-01-08, 05:02 PM I played the PS3 demo and the game is pretty bad, don't waste your time downloading it Should of read this before I had download it. One of the worst demos on 360. efjay 02-01-08, 06:46 PM Would anyone care to comment on exactly what is bad about this demo? Seems to have been universally condemned but no one has really explained why. jasonstiller 02-01-08, 06:52 PM I agree. Ikari Warrior 02-01-08, 11:31 PM Wow really? I liked it quite a bit. Played it co-op and it was pretty fun. It's completely different from the previous four Conflict games, but that's to be expected since it's just the game formerly known as Crossfire rebranded with a more familiar name. I liked the feel of the LMG, and the heat effect coming off the gun was nice. I'm picking it up. perpetual 02-02-08, 11:24 AM For me the main appeal of this series was the 4 player co-op. They downed this to 2 player co-op. Another thing I didn't like was that the control doesn't shake when you shoot so you don't get any feedback. Homeless 02-02-08, 12:13 PM This was terrible... tgable 02-02-08, 07:58 PM I like the co-op aspect. If you played their last gen games then you won't be surprised with the graphics. jasonstiller 02-02-08, 10:57 PM Graphics were average but as a whole I enjoyed the game. Lots of cool lil effects. I really like giving a head shot and watching the blood splatter on the wall ha ha. JuiceRocket 02-03-08, 02:52 PM Would anyone care to comment on exactly what is bad about this demo? Seems to have been universally condemned but no one has really explained why. Personally, it simply feels like a 2nd rate shooter. The gameplay mechanics (movement, recoil on guns) seem dated and rigid. The graphics of the environment itself aren't bad, but the animation of the characters and their character models look very dated. It's got some nice effects as jason said, including exploding gas tanks, and portions of the environment that react/will collapse, etc., but it feels like it's all been done before in other games - and in a much better fashion. I played SP and co-op, and found co-op much funner, but that didn't veil the fact that the game isn't up there with current FPS's. With COD4 out and setting a bar, I feel like FPS games are having a tough time matching that bar, or even coming close to it. -JR DaGamePimp 02-03-08, 03:35 PM This demo is so-so at best and some aspects are just plain lousy ( IMO ) . --- Jason BikerTrashXB 02-03-08, 04:52 PM Personally, it simply feels like a 2nd rate shooter. I'm not that concerned since I am still enjoying Halo 3 and CoD4. I am also chipping away at AC and ME too. But still, it is a troubling trend. WilliamR 02-04-08, 08:49 AM Guess I am in the minority. LOVED the demo. It moved up to the top of my list. Loved the switchable characters, I loved the special effects. Best grenade smoke in a game since Lost Planet. Rocket launcher is wicked cool, the trail of the rocket and how the rocket does loops to get to the target, impressive looking. Nice weapons, great grenade effect, fun as heck co-op mode, good graphics, not sure what there is not to like. Co-op looks to be a blast, supporting your fellow squad mate with the sniper, etc. Looking forward to this game. mproper 02-04-08, 08:59 AM I thought it was ok, but I had some issues (and maybe this is me not knowing the controls) but I had a rifle with a scope, but couldn't figure out to zoom with it. Also there didn't seem to be any "steady" or "look down the sights" mode. Someone earlier mentioned the rocket launcher, but I guess I don't know how to switch weapons. The control layout in the settings say "Y" swaps weapons, but it just seemed to switch firing modes for me. Also, I guess there's no sprint or jump, but I do like the lean feature. My final(?) complaint is how your teammate just stands still. I mean, I constantly have to tell him to move up, or he just stands in one spot. I realized this when I was half way through the demo and he was no where around, but was way back at the beginning just standing there. However, the above does provide some interesting switch character moments. I do like the "fly through the halls" scenes when switching to your other character and they're a long distance away. Anyways, I do wish the demo was longer, as I felt it was way too short to sway me one way or the other on the game. Chako 02-04-08, 11:10 AM I thought it was pretty bland. Almost felt like they are just trying to beat Army of Two to the punch. It has 3 levels of zoom. Holding the left trigger is the "down the sights" look to steady things. Holding the Y button calls up the menu of weapons to pick from, there are multiple weapons. You have to tell your squad mate what to do, rally on you, stay, go there and provide cover fire, etc. I believe this is the bumper that does this. mproper 02-04-08, 01:35 PM D-pad zooms once you do the initial zoom on the sniper rifle. My left trigger only told my squad to go to that position and didn't seem to do anything. Maybe I didn't hold it down long enough. And I only pressed the Y button. Guess I need to hold it down. I feel silly now... WilliamR 02-04-08, 04:02 PM Alright I'll try again. My left trigger only told my squad to go to that position and didn't seem to do anything. One of the buttons/triggers does the "sight down the scope" I can't remember now. Maybe it was a bumper or one of the buttons. Try then all (you had to hold it). I know it works because I did it all the time with the heavy machine gun guy. Spyderturbo007 02-06-08, 08:49 AM Does anyone know if this game supports co-op campaign? I'm looking for another game to play co-op where you get the storyline, cutscenes, etc. Just like the co-op in Gears. TonyDP 02-06-08, 11:45 AM I tried the 360 demo; after about 5 minutes of clunky controls, inane in-game dialog and some of the ugliest textures I've seen in a long time, I quit and promptly deleted it from my hard drive. [SS]Shooter 02-08-08, 01:05 AM Do not download this piece of crap... This game is choppy and has worse graphics than Socom 1. It's laughably bad. Looks like a 1997 James Bond game for PS2. I literally couldn't believe it, that's how bad it was. I guess they are pretending COD4 and Graw just don't exist... Yikes. I thought the graphics where very impressive, actually I thought the graphics where right up there with a lot of top-tier games out there. Hmmm. whiskey > work 02-08-08, 09:23 AM so we have one guy who thinks it looks like a ps2 game, and one guy who thinks it is one of the best games graphically for the 360. WilliamR 02-08-08, 03:50 PM so we have one guy who thinks it looks like a ps2 game, and one guy who thinks it is one of the best games graphically for the 360. Now now, I didn't say one of the best game graphically. I said it was up there with top-tier games. Its not as good looking as COD4, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, etc. But it is good, it looked almost as good. However, grenade smoke is the best in a game since the Lost Planet smoke effect. One weird thing is, if you watch the video for it, the graphics look horrendous, I mean really really bad. You play the demo and the graphics look really good. Makes me think those videos where shot a long time ago on a pre-build or something. glock36 02-08-08, 04:29 PM Playing the demo for this game saved myself $50.00 I've been spoiled by bigger and better. GearGuy2001 02-09-08, 01:32 AM Dont waste your time on this game, played the full version and its garbage Terrible graphics (what am I on a SDTV?) and the gameplay is bland cdub998 02-11-08, 07:49 AM There are far too many batter shooters to waste money on this peice of crap. When it started I was thinking to myself "are they serious?" WilliamR 02-11-08, 09:13 AM Terrible graphics (what am I on a SDTV?) I am so confused. I'm going to try and take some screenshots of the actual gameplay. The video had horrible graphics, the demo seemed to have graphics near COD 4 (not the same, but almost). I better play it again tonight to see what the heck is going on here. vancouver 02-11-08, 12:07 PM Im dissapointed to hear all the negative comments. I secretly liked the other Conflict games and I was hoping the next one would be an improvement. JuiceRocket 02-11-08, 02:53 PM so we have one guy who thinks it looks like a ps2 game, and one guy who thinks it is one of the best games graphically for the 360. Hey Double W. The graphics are odd. You have some nice textures and some high-poly objects. Some cool well done particle effects, and some nice damage modeling. Unfortunately, it's not consistent, and some of the art direction (at least what I saw on the demo) is a bit suspect. The character textures are pretty good, for the most part, but they look like low-poly models. Combine that with poor motion-capture movement, and things start to look off. If you had a CoD4 character, a GoW character, and a Conflict Ops character all standing next to each other, it'd be obvious that CoD4 and GoW were a large step above. There is some random texture blurring, which I'm guessing is just the engine trying to draw textures as you run up to them, but again, it's inconsistent. I noted some pretty rough creases and texture seams, which makes the game feel off - "dated" as I said in an earlier post, only because it seems like it would have looked pretty good as a launch game. Actually, if you put it head-to-head vs. CoD2, CoD2 would win out. That may give you a good idea of the overall graphics. Overall even though there are some elements of this demo that have nicer graphics than CoD2, the graphics are inconsistent and the motion-capture really hurts the game overall. I don't understand why some games have some terrific motion capture/character movement (CoD4), and others don't (this). Maybe it's simply budget? -JR Ikari Warrior 02-11-08, 07:18 PM EGM has a quick mini review of it in the latest issue. They said it looks surprisingly solid with destructible environments, but isn't consistent. They said it was decent enough but with all the AAA shooters there's better stuff to play. I liked it well enough, especially co op. I'll be picking it up Wednesday with the free camo underwear at Circuit City. :D assasyn 02-11-08, 11:18 PM The demo was balls. Not fun at all. |
