I bought a component to vga cable off of Mono Price to connect my 360 to my 22" samsung monitor. A signal goes through but there is no red or blue. It also will not let me increase the resolution in the dashboard.
Has anyone had a similar experience?

What? The 360 natively supports VGA output. I would think that it would make more sense to just buy a 360 VGA cable. :)
What is the actual product that you purchased? Link?

Those cables are only designed for displays that accept component video over the VGA connection . You would need a transcoder to do what you are trying to do but it is much cheaper ( & better results ) to just purchase a 360 VGA cable (as mentioned above) .
