I have a new CM4228 and a CM7775. Everything was working great until I got home yesterday. Suddenly, I was getting no signals. If I unplugged the 7775 from the power outlet, I started getting signals from my closests towers.

I had already ordered a CM7777. It came in today. However, it has the same problem. When I connect it to the power outlet, I get no signals.

What should I do?

How are you cabling the preamp and power inserter? How long is your cable from antenna to tuner? The preamp should be very close to the antenna for best performance. The DC power inserter can be anywhere between the tuner and preamp but you must make sure to connect to the correct terminals. Do you have any splitters between the DC power inserter and the preamp?

The preamp is 5 inches from the antenna. From there, I've got about 90 ft to the Power Inserter. From there to the TV is about 3 feet.

There are no splitters in my configuration.

What happens if you bypass the preamp entirely? This probably done the most easily by replacing it with a double femail connector at your antenna and disconnecting the power inserter.

Sounds like you have the cables reversed at the power injector. Or you are too close to the towers and don't need a preamp and are overloading the tuner.

The actual TV Fool plots shows you as being even closer to the towers that the general area ZIP code plot. An easily overloaded pre-amp such as the 7777 or 7775 is not going to get it done here.

I am doubtful that any pre-amp will survive these conditions w/o overload.

Did you make splices in the coax, or put on your own fittings? Check to be sure the braid (silver hair) is not touching the copper prong. It can cause a short.

Is the outlet dead? Breaker tripped?
