ok, i wanted to try hooking my 360 up to my Vizio using a VGA cable too see how the display will look in VGA, but for some reason it doesn't recognize the signal coming from the 360. now when i hook my PC up to the same Vizio using a different VGA cable, it recognizes the signal fine, and when i hook the 360 up to my PC monitor via the same VGA cable (that's not working with the 360 and the tv) it recognizes the signal fine and shows an image...

so basically, the RGB port on the back of the tv works with the PC VGA cable but not the MS VGA cable so it doesn't seem like the problems with the RGB port, but the MS VGA cable works fine with other PC so it doesn't seem like the problem's with the cable...

so basically, what's the problem? and for the record, it's an original MS cable, so nothing 3rd party is being used...

What the model number of your TV? Also you need to make sure that the 360 is set to output a resolution that your TV will accept, start with 640*480 and go from there.

its the Vizio VX32L from Costco. and i know about setting the resolution, but i can't get a picture to even do that, which is why i find this strange because i know the 360 usually senses which resolution the tv or monitor will accept...

Thats a weird problem, did you check to see that the reference levels were at standard? Thats the only other thing I can think of, maybe try to call Vizio customer support.

ok, i got it working. for some reason, the 360 didn't reset itself to the new resolution when i hooked it up to the Vizio via the VGA, because when i hooked it back up to the monitor and changed the resolution to 1360x768 (from the 1920x1080 it was set at before on my 24" monitor) it worked fine. i guess it could be a handshake issue with the 360 and Vizio, i don't know, it's just a hassle to have to keep moving stuff around just to get it working the way it should work. anyway, thanks...
