Need to calibrate the picture on my new panny 32lx700. I have the Avia I, but don't have a dvd hooked into the panny. I'm thinking of two things to do, but I'm not sure if they will work.
1. The SA3800hd has a SATA external hard drive input. I'm thinking of putting the Avia into my computer's dvd disk drive and copying it into my external hard drive (not sure if this can be done). If it can, then I would hook the external hard drive into the SA 3800 and play the Avai from there????
2. Borrow my daughter's portable dvd player, put in the Avai disk and then hook directly into the panny???

Option 1. won't work since the file system on the 8300HD is not readable in Windows.
Option 2 is a better option.

Seems to be a fly in the ointment. Got the Philps DVD player. It has a composite out (vid and sound). I plugged the video out into the aux vid in on the 50lx700, switched around to all the inputs on the tv, and still didn't get a picture. I also tried putting the vid out into the vid in on the outside of the sa3800hd, tried all the tv inputs, and still no picture. The tv manual (pg 38) shows that the side panel can be used for DVD players, but says nothing else. Any suggestions.

This is a long shot because I'm not familiar with either the TV or DVD player, but some DVD players have buttons that are used to switch between different output types.

I will soon have a Tosh hd-a3 and will be calibrating my 32lx700 using the Avia I disk. I have heard that one should calibrate for each input. I am somewhat confused about this. Does this mean that I set up the hda3 via hdmi1 and calibrate (do the same for hdmi2); and, then set it up via component and calibrate the components? And, if so, can I, for example, use vivid for the component calibration and custom for the hdmi calibration. That is, do I equate one of the viewing modes to a specific calibration? Furthermore, if all this is so, will the "equated" viewing modes hold their new settings?
It is also my understanding that cinema and vivid are global settings (meaning I think??? that they will hold for all inputs), while the custom setting is for a specific input. And, if this is so, which equated viewing mode would be best for which inputs?
Hope I'm making sense.....
