My 360 won't load any 360 games. It'll load my original xbox games and play DVD's, but won't boot up any real 360 games. WTH? I tried clearing the cache, but that didn't work. Is there a DIY fix for this, or should I just fry it into RROD?

Thats a new one to me. Usually when the drive goes it won't read anything.

I don't understand why you would need to fry it to send it in though.. Just call them and tell them it wont read discs... They will send you a coffin right out.

Maybe it is a PS3 trapped in a Xbox body. LOL

I was under the impression that they charge you for repairs for non RROD problems. Am I mistaken?

did you try to flash your drive?

sounds like a new firmware into which the key was incorrectly inserted

No, I didn't try to flash the drive. I was getting disc read errors pretty consistently for several days leading up to this. Now the thing will play everything but 360 games. I've googled but haven't found anything relating to this particular problem.

I'd guess that the drive is having issues reading the wierd copy protection patterns on the 360 discs. Your other data discs have error correction built into them, so a partially failed drive could still read them with more work. I would guess that the copy protection part of the 360 discs have no error correction because it would be embedded in the error correction part of the disc.

I would just call xbox support and ask them what your options are.

It's dying buddy. You're going to have to send it in. Mine did the same thing. Would play anything but 360 games.

Mine was out of warranty as well when my laser went bad. I just raised hell until they gave in.
