View Full Version : Zombie Farm HD DVD
Damnationdoormat 02-03-08, 11:29 AM Looks like one of the 1000 HD DVD Indies Project (http://www.createspace.com/Special/L/1000HD_indies.jsp) entries is a low budget Horror flick.
Zombie Farm Official Site (http://www.zombiefarmmovie.com/)
Trailer on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGjfVgei5CY)
CreateSpace: Zombie Farm HD DVD (http://www.createspace.com/Store/ShowEStore.jsp?id=241350)
Ordered a copy from CreateSpace directly, who seems to have it in-stock. Seems like an interesting curiosity... :)
Stevie76 02-03-08, 11:37 AM Seems to be a fun little indie Zombie flick in the same vein as "The Dead Next Door" :)
Give us a review when you get it ;)
ServerKing 02-03-08, 11:44 AM Yea interested in your opinion once u get the dvd.
Sporadic 02-03-08, 12:08 PM About $10 too much IMO
Damnationdoormat 02-03-08, 12:08 PM Will report when I receive it, CreateSpace says it usually takes about 2-3 business days to ship and I selected USPS Priority, so it shouldn't take too long.
I'm a sucker for SOV (or next to no budget) Horror, I have quite a few of them. Like the mentioned The Dead Next Door, Leif Jonker's Darkness, Splatter: Architects of Fear, The Dead Hate The Living, Maplewoods, Harvesters, and so on...
Sporadic 02-03-08, 12:11 PM This doesn't seem to be 1080i/p
On their site it says "Re-Digitized Hi Definition Movie Optimized for 1440 x 1080 TVs"
http://www.blbmedia.com/store.htm#Zombie_Farm_HD-DVD_NOW_AVAILABLE!
Damnationdoormat 02-03-08, 12:13 PM This doesn't seem to be 1080i/p
CreateSpace states "1080i"
Title #241350
Running time: 81 minutes
Format: 1080i HD DVD
ServerKing 02-06-08, 03:02 PM Anyone pick this up for a review?
Damnationdoormat 02-06-08, 03:03 PM Should be receiving this today in my mailbox.
SomethingMore 02-06-08, 03:24 PM I'm a sucker for zombie films. I just might have to order this...
rboster 02-06-08, 03:25 PM deleted unrelated to the topic posts
SomethingMore 02-06-08, 03:27 PM It's 12.95 at amazon. :D
edit: I hate amazon.com. $7.95 to ship one item to Canada. ugh.
cnikirk 02-06-08, 04:44 PM I just picked it up from Amazon myself. I love bad Zombie films :)
Sporadic 02-06-08, 05:07 PM This isn't the only release.
Looks like Birthrite was also released at the same time.
http://www.amazon.com/Birthrite-HD-DVD/dp/B0013HXB28/
http://www.birthritemovie.com/
I picked up both of these, I couldn't resist.
Thanks for the info will have to grab both movies.

And it's not a budget thing, either... Zombies and gore in this look alright, just the acting looks atrocious from this trailer!

So B. Luciano Barsuglia's 2007 Zombie Farm is Claudio Fragasso's 1984 Zombie 4: After Death?
Also Zombie 4 is a trash classic.
Ugh, thinking I shouldn't have even started this thread.

No, I was just saying that it looks worse than something like Zombi 4, and provided a link in case anyone is curious about what I'm referring to. Also, there's nothing wrong with this thread. I'm sure there's some who would like this. :)
Why is the HD DVD cheaper than the DVD?
farmer_joe 07-26-09, 09:06 PM I watched this old horror flick at a friends house earlier this week and haven't been able to find it anywhere! Thanks for the info on where to buy it!
DavidEC 07-28-09, 12:39 AM Did they ever release it on HD-DVD??
As I had it on order at Amazon and my order was canceled?!

Strange. My order from Amazon was fulfilled (both Zombie Farm and Birthrite).
farmer_joe 07-30-09, 02:00 PM They filled my order, that is strange.

Yep, absolutely terrible excuse for a zombie flick and this is coming from someone who owns well over a hundred.

Quentin2 07-30-09, 04:47 PM I'm kinda glad I skipped this one!
Dawn (and Land) of the Dead will have to do. :D
bruceames 07-31-09, 12:25 AM Perhaps Amazon had a small number of copies made and when they sold out that was it. The HDNet titles were the same way, going out of print very soon after release. Besides, the format war ended just a week or so after release so no chance any more were going to be made up to sell. Also Maybe Amazon returned the unsold copies when the format war ended to the filmakers.
This was one of their recorded on demand discs. They quit burning them immediately after the Toshiba announcement.
DjfunkmasterG 08-21-09, 10:26 AM Still bummed HD_DVD died. In addition to being an HD-DVD addict I am also a filmmaker, and I make low to no budget zombie films. I was trying to get my distributor for my first flick, DEADLANDS: The Rising to to an HD-DVD release and let me include part 2, but he opted to get out of the business, so the distributor that picked up Deadlands 2: Trapped is opting for Blu-Ray, which is still cool and all, but I was hoping to see them on HD-DVD.

Appreciate the attempt. I miss it too (having been disappointed with so many Blu-Ray discs). But what can ya do?

no chance at all they make a small run of hd dvds? there are people here starved for new hd dvd content.
DjfunkmasterG 08-26-09, 08:06 PM I could ask, but The HD encode of the flick isn't very good, meaning the source material was only 720x480, then up-res'd to 1920x1080 by the distributor for ONDEMAND HD.
Personally after seeing the HD proof, It looks good, and has a nice sound mix, but I would feel like I was cheating everyone if I released a film shot mostly in SD (Only 2 sequences were shot HD) and tried to call it HD.

I have both versions and the HD DVD is a huge upgrade, PQ-wise. I would never have known it wasn't shot in HD from watching it.
As for burning up a few HD DVD discs (of a new movie from a small filmmaker), it doesn't seem like it would be such a major deal. You just need to get a filmmaker (ex-HD DVD fan? ;) to go through the trouble of getting an encode created and burning them onto DVDs.

kudos man for not wanting to cheat people +1

filmakers are one thing, distribution companies another. you are an honest man, that`s what counts. besides fox did the same with 28 days later which was shot on DV.
