Guys, I have had a Philips HTS 3544 Surround Sound System for a few months now. I turned it on this past Saturday and found out that it did not sound the same. The settings were not changed and the subwoofer is the problem.

I checked the sound and the bass is not the same. I was playing Cal of Duty 4 and I fired the RPD, and before I was able to feel the vibration from the subwoofer, but now I am not getting any vibrations. The subwoofer is not giving any bass until I turn the reciever up to thirty which is only ten numbers away from the maximum. I used to feel the subwoofer when it was on six or seven but thirty used to make the floor rattle.

I know the reciever is sending a singal, but the sound is not what it used to be and the signal seems to be weak. The subwoofer is a "Passive" one.

Any help would be nice. Thanks.

Well, I payed 280.00 USD for it. Do you guys know anything on what could be the problem? Thanks. Can any "Mod" move it to the right forum?

How high is the gain on your sub? Having the gain set too high could be the death of any sub. Well, those without the circuitry to prevent the sub from over-doing itself, that is.

I haven't listened to the RPD in quite a while on CoD4, but I'll give it a go tonight and post back if I can feel/hear anything with my SVS sub.

Wow, this is helpful. Why even post?

Are you sure you've double checked all connections? Are you sure your settings are the same?

What does the back of the sub look like? (connections, switches, etc.)

The manual doesn't give much help, but it does say to try to reconnect the non-working unit.

I would take this to the Home-Theater-in-a-Box section of this forum. You will probably get more helpful information there.
