I'm trying to watch the superbowl in HD through comcast (they have some unencrypted channels) and 2 people in my house can watch it in HD when my TV can't find it, even when i manually enter the channel. He even has an NTSC/ATSC tuner like me, I can't figure it out.

To get digital cable channels, you need a clear QAM tuner, not NTSC or ATSC. Does your TV pick up any digital cable channels at QAM channels such as 97.2, 104.1? Do you see any channels mapped to the local broadcast station # such as 4.1, 5.1 (if Comcast in your area passes the PSIP channel mapping info).

Yeah I get all the others, I get about 12.

No ideas?
We need more information. Do you know what the QAM channel is for the Fox station on the Comcast system where the other TVs are finding it? What model TV do you have? If you have an older digital TV, it is possible that it only goes up to cable channel 125 while your Comcast system uses up to channel 135 (860 MHz system). Are you sure that your TV is finding the locals on the digital QAM channels? Are any them HD channels (1080i or 720p signal) or are they all SD (480i)? What is the call sign for the Fox station?

Everyone's Fox channel is 79.4. I tried manually entering it and it just comes up black. I have a Panasonic PT-56LCZ70 (http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/shop/Televisions/LIFI-Projection-HDTVs/model.PT-56LCZ70.S_11002_7000000000000005702#tabsection)
It's brand new, basically. And I do get NBCHD, but its in the 1.2 range, so it's different. The Fox station is WAHU27. Sorry for the lack of info.
Also, I live in 22903 (Charlottesville, VA)

Well looking at the tech specs on the Panasonic page there that model series does not have a QAM Tuner for digital cable system. Seems the manual says to use a Cable box with the Monitor unit. Since it is only a
Tech Spec "Receiving System: NTSC/ATSC"

However the manual clearly references to scanning for digital cable (page 27). The spec sheet also lists for cable, channels 1-135 which strongly suggest a 860 MHz QAM tuner. You often have to look past the sales sheet on the web page to clarify if the TV has a QAM tuner or not.
If the TV is finding the other local digital channels, then there may be a compatibility problem or glitch in tuning to the Fox HD sub-channel. Check the active Harrisonburg-Charlottesville thread at http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=386678&page=78 for questions on the local cable system.
The problem is to take full advantage of the digital cable system, people need to get a cable box or a TivoHD / TV / purchased box with a cable card. The clear QAM channels are only really useful for a 2nd or 3rd TV in the kitchen, bedroom that is not used that much except for the broadcast networks. Is Comcast asking that much for a HD STB or better yet a HD DVR?
